  1. Rename Application in Registry Edit

Rename Application in Registry Edit Below I have attached two screen shots describing my situation. I am trying to change the Display Name in Appwiz.cpl programs and features control panel for an application that is already installed. I think this application was installed from an MSI. It currently displays as ScreenConnect Client e9870228b647f471 in AppWiz.CPLI want it to show as SupportMeNow in appwiz.cplThis is where I have tried to change the display name in Regedit. Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall\{74F8FAFA-4B01-4DC9-87D6-75

  2. Registry editing

    Hello,

This issue may have occurred after one of the following situations:

    • You upgrade the Windows operating system.
    • You install or uninstall CD or DVD recording programs.
    • You uninstall Microsoft Digital Image.

Given that, we suggest performing the methods in this article:
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs
    .
The resolutions that are listed in that article may help solve some instances but not all instances of this problem.

Important:This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow
these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base
    article.

Feel free to update us with the results.

    Windows Mobile 6.5 registry editing

What Registry Editor are you using? There are several applications which do the job, though not all are excellent (and that's what everyone needs in case of registry editing)!

I advice you to use PHM Registry Editor
    it will allow you to;

    • Explore the registry to find the operating system and applications' configuration.
    • Modify system and applications tweaks not available from the standard options screens.
    • Export all or parts of the registry to .reg files.
    • Backup and restore the complete registry.
    • Perform search on the registry data.
Ofcourse everyone is on their own when changing the registry. When things go wrong, one must be prepaired to HARD-RESET the device; loosing all settings/contacts/photo's/etc. Sometimes a backup helps, though when dealing with the Registry, one can not be sure
    this will help.

    Try Advanced Task Manager
this application will allow you to soft reset your device first!
    • Real time monitoring
    • Lists active applications
    • Lists active processes
    • Information about active applications and processes
    • Close/close all applications
    • Physical/virtual/storage/storage card memory usage
    • Run application/Suspend/Reset from menu
    • Automatically minimized to tray bar
Then after a soft reset you can try to reboot your system normaly and IMO all your reg settings are saved now!

Trying to disable the Insert key with a Registry edit

    Hi Bill,

We appreciate the information that you provided. For us to narrow down your concern with
disabling the Insert key with a Registry edit, have you tried creating a backup before editing the registry? If yes, we suggest that you restore it back; then, try it again with the correct entry. To do this, see this
    link, and follow the steps/instructions.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.
