  1. "Remote Access Connection Manager RasMan" service isn't running on my laptop

Hey, I could use some help here. So, I've got this issue where the "Remote Access Connection Manager RasMan" service isn't running on my laptop. It just won't start, even when I try to do it manually or set it to start automatically. Has anyone else had this problem before? I'm using Windows 11 Enterprise OS.

  2. Remote Access Connection Manager Fails To Start

Windows 10 Pro, with latest updates, on a corporate domain.

I am unable to use my VPN as the Remote Access Connection Manager service is not running, despite being set to start automatically.

If I try to start it manually I get an error saying that it could not be started and I should check the event logs. The error in the event logs is:

    Log Name: System

    Source: RasMan

    Event ID: 20030

"Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because it could not load one or more communication DLLs. Ensure that your communication hardware is installed and then restart the Remote Access Connection Manager service. If the problem persists, contact
the system administrator. There was an unknown error."

Other people in my company are experiencing the same issue. We use HP laptops and those with Realtek NICs have this problem, but those with Intel NICs do not.

I have tried removing and reinstalling all networking devices in Windows. I have also tried installing the latest driver for the Realtek NIC.

I have checked that the following registry keys exist and are configured correctly:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\Parameters\AllowL2TPWeakCrypto = 0

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\Parameters\AllowPPTPWeakCrypto = 0

I have checked that the services on which RasMan is dependent are running.

I have checked that the SYSTEM account has read and execute permissions on ..\System32\rasman.dll + rasmans.dll + rasppp.dll + rastapi.dll

You can tell I've been at this for a while.

I really don't want to have to resort to a system reset as this is also affecting remote users.

    Here's hoping...

  3. How Do I Completely Disable Remote Access Connection Manager?

    Dear G7Y0,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your question about disabling Remote Access Connection Manager (RASMAN), Remote Desktop Configuration, and Remote Desktop Services on your Windows system. I understand that you do not use Virtual Private Network (VPN) or Dial-Up and would like to disable these features.

To completely disable Remote Access Connection Manager, Remote Desktop Configuration, and Remote Desktop Services, follow these steps.

Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

Type "services.msc" (without quotes) in the Run dialog box and press Enter. This will open the Services window.

In the Services window, scroll down and locate the following services:

    Remote Access Connection Manager

    Remote Desktop Configuration

    Remote Desktop Services

For each of these services, right-click on the service name and select "Properties" from the context menu.

In the Properties window, under the "General" tab, find the "Startup type" section and set it to "Disabled."

Click on the "Stop" button if the services are currently running.

Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

By disabling these services, you will effectively prevent Remote Access Connection Manager, Remote Desktop Configuration, and Remote Desktop Services from running on your system. Please note that disabling these services may limit or prevent certain remote access capabilities.

If you ever decide to enable these services in the future, you can follow the same steps and set the "Startup type" to "Automatic" or "Manual" for each service.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

    .

  4. "Remote Access Connection Manager RasMan" service isn't running on my laptop

Remote access connection manager will not start in Windows 8.1

When in Services under "services and applications" I am trying to get the " Remote Access Connection Manager" to start, and after some 30 seconds, the message "error 20: cannot find the device specified"message appears. I assume that the device "remote
access connection manager" (RASMAN) either does not exist or is corrupt. Can anybody help me with this? My ultimate goal is to initialize the program "Hide,me.exe" a VPN service. This program worked fine with no problems running Windows 8. When I upgraded
to Windows 8.1 the program did not work anymore. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled the program, I have followed all the instructions I was given by starting the hide,me service, then restarting the computer and it still fails. At this time I was fortunate
enough to get a Microsoft chat respondent to "take control" of my computer. He did a few changes and then had me run a memory check program after hitting "restart". All these efforts were in vain. I am still in a wondering mode at this point. Can you suggest
anything that might help? Thank you, and I appreciate any and all suggestions that may come my way. Thank anyone in advance...
