Searches for phrases in Windows 10 Explorer randomly return either files containing the entire phrase the desired outcome or files containing any of the words in the phrase useless. To be sure of getting the entire phrase, you have to type content:"your phrase". My questions are, what rules determine whether the search uses the entire phrase or individual words, and does anyone really want to search for "To be or not to be" and get thousands of files containing "to", "be", "or", "not", "to", "be"? Surely the full phrase search should be default without the additional hassle of typing in "C

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Inconsistent search results

I wanted to uninstall a program, so I typed "uninstall" in the search bar. On one Windows 10 computer the (non web) results pointing to the Windows uninstaller were:

    • Programs and Features - Control Panel
    • Apps & Features - System Settings
    • Settings: Change or remove a program
    On another Windows 10 computer:

    • Settings - Program and Features
    • Settings - Apps and Features
    • Setting: - Change or remove a program
On a third Windows 10 system the Windows uninstall was not found at all.

The 4th machine was the same as the 1st.

    Number 5 just gave me:

    • Settings - Apps and Features
only when I came back later it gave me more stuff.

One thing that I thought Windows 8.1 did well was that even though settings were fragmented in several places, the Search put it all together. Search just isn't working for Windows 10 programs with any kind of consistency.

The example above is not the only one. I am finding that several apps and settings are just missing from the search results on different devices.
