  1. Proper speed for creating a installation media for Windows 10/11 DVD+R Dual Layer

Hello! I'm asking for technical support on what speed to use to burn a Windows 11 ISO to DVD+R dual layer. My last burn was 8x speed and caused an error I used CDBurnerXP. Should I burn it at 2x speed?Thank you!

  2. Can dual-layer dvds be burned in 2023???

(Or even dual-even dual layer Blu Ray discs)

Magix movie Edit Pro 2020, Windows 10

Yes MEP can create an IMAGE to go to a dl dvd but then that cant be put on a disc. I tried MEP to the disc it creates the files but when goes to the disc it spits it out after a minute into the process but the disc is still blank.

I tried raising this on the Magix forum, initially tried an old program which previously worked CD XP Burner which had worked in the past. they suggested IMGburm but that failed. I had a cheaper stock which worked on my DVD Recorder, they suggested I get Verbatim and it still didn't work.

Internal dvd, external dvd, external blu ray they all failed.

I haven't tried File Manager to disc as I suspect it won't work either.

All dual layer silver discs read fine, all single layer discs burn fine.

Can anybody help me as I'm worried I won't be able to burn to dual layer media any more.

The only program that burned this successfully was Wondershares Uniconverter dvd creator with the older dvds i had but unfortunately 720x576 25 fps it burned as a 23.98 output not the result I require.

  3. Can dual-layer dvds be burned in 2023???

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Yes, dual-layer DVDs and dual-layer Blu-ray discs can still be burned in 2023. The process of burning to dual-layer discs is not fundamentally different from burning to single-layer discs, although there can be compatibility issues, software limitations, or hardware considerations that might affect the success of the burning process.

Based on your description, it seems like you're experiencing difficulties burning to dual-layer discs using Magix Movie Edit Pro 2020 and other software. Here are a few troubleshooting steps and considerations you can take:

    1. Check Disc Compatibility: Make sure the discs you are using are compatible with your DVD or Blu-ray burner. Verbatim is generally a reliable brand for dual-layer media. Ensure that you are using high-quality blank discs.
    2. Update Software: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Magix Movie Edit Pro 2020. Sometimes, software updates can include bug fixes and improvements that might address burning issues.
    3. Check Project Settings: Verify that your project settings within Magix Movie Edit Pro 2020 are set correctly for dual-layer burning. Ensure that you are selecting the appropriate disc type (DVD DL or Blu-ray DL) in the project settings.
    4. Burning Speed: Try adjusting the burning speed to a slower setting. Burning at slower speeds can sometimes improve compatibility and reduce the chances of errors.
    5. Check Hardware: Sometimes, hardware issues can affect the burning process. Ensure that your internal DVD or Blu-ray drive is functioning properly. Consider trying a different external drive if possible.
    6. Test with Different Software: Trying different software may also help you solve the problem.
    7. Consider File Manager to Disc: While you have concerns about File Manager to Disc, it's worth trying as an alternative method. This might help determine if the issue is specific to the Magix software.
    8. Technical Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Magix technical support for assistance. They might be able to provide guidance and troubleshoot the issue further.
    9. Test on Different Computer: If possible, try burning the same project on a different computer to determine if the issue is specific to your current setup.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Best regards

Proper speed for creating a installation media for Windows 10/11 DVD+R Dual Layer

DVD RW Drive E not recognizing formatted Verbatim DVD-R Disc

That drive should be fine. It is good for the following:

    Read Speed:

    24x CD

    8x DVD

    CD Write Speed:

    24x CD-R

    16x CD-RW

    DVD Write Speed:

    8x DVD-R

    8x DVD+R

    6x DVD-RW

    8x DVD+RW

    8x DVD-R DL(Dual Layer)

    8x DVD+R DL(Dual Layer)

    5x DVD-RAM

I noticed in your original post you said formatted DVD-R and assumed it was a typo. You don't format a DVD-R. You just burn it.
