Windows 10: product key retrieval

My son originally had an windows 8.1 that he upgraded to windows 10. Recently we changed out his motherboard, cpu and ram. I completely forgot about making sure it was linked to his microsoft account. So now we need to activate it and can't. He has the original product key but that doesn't work. I guess it was for the 8.1 OS? Would the upgrade have been a digital license and is there any way to retrieve it from his microsoft account?

Can I retrieve windows 7 product key with product ID?

Hi ,

I had a very old laptop which had windows 7 Ultimate system, I forgot to save the product key from my windows 7 and installed windows 10 Pro downloaded from Microsoft website but I still have my product ID from windows 7 ultimate. Is there a way I can retrieve the product key with my product ID?
If it can be retrieved can it still be used to activate my windows 10 which is currently not activated? (Keeping in mind windows 7 and 8 support has ended)

If it can be retrieved how and where can I do that?

Note: I no longer have windows 7 OS on my PC and the several steps given to find product key is not appliable in my case as those steps require me to be on windows 7 again.

Since its an old PC I don't have the original CD drive nor do I have any resources and backup for my Windows 7 ultimate OS

I need help on retrieving a microsoft office product key.

I'd upgraded my sister's laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without saving any of its files (clean install). Now I was told that she does not know her microsoft office keys.

Is there any way for me to retrieve the keys? It's a student key which was given by her Uni and she does not keep the keys.

I suggest that you report the theft to the Police.

And even if you got the key it is still activated on that laptop with Microsoft.
