Windows 10: Prevent broken shortcuts being removed in windows 10 - 2022

Hi,This is the second time I am asking this now, first time was on this link. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/prevent-broken-shortcuts-being-removed-in-windows/2d7e4600-742b-4aab-87c7-ca9935caf202Basically same thing, windows 10 removed my broken shortcuts after update or something. I have used the solution from the link above, I have checked Computer Maintenance is off, EnabledExecution value is 0 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>ScheduledDiagnosticsSo what is next now to stop windows 10 keeps removing my shortcuts on the taskbar?

Hi,

I have similiar problem to below link but in windows 10. Basically over a period of time windows keeps deleting my broken shortcuts on my taskbar, apparently I use them everyday but it just an external source, so it won't automatically connected when I start windows until I connect the external source. I want this to be sorted as it keeps annoying me and I have to set up all shortcuts again.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

By default, the Automatic Computer Maintenance task is configured to perform the following actions:

1-Broken shortcuts removal. If you have more than 4 broken shortcuts in the Start menu and on the Desktop, Windows 10 will remove them. Such shortcuts usually point to executable files which do not exist anymore, for example, after you delete the app's folder from Program Files manually.

2-Desktop icons which have been unused for 3 months will be removed.

3- System clock will be checked and synchronized with a time server.

4-Hard disks will be checked for file system errors.

5-The troubleshooting history and error reports which are older than 1 month will be removed.

You can disable the Automatic Computer Maintenance task in the Registry.

1-Right-click on Start and select Run

2-Type: Regedit and click on ok

3-Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>ScheduledDiagnostics

4-In the right pane, you will see the EnabledExecution, double-click on that and change the value to 0 to disable

5-Close the registry editor and reboot your pc

 

Windows 10 commands/shortcuts/env. var.

I'd like to disable Skype and all the crap that I don't need in windows 10. I've gone through the settings and removed it from the optional program list but I still see Skype and some other executables or processes running in task manager , i'm sure there's a way
