Windows 10: powercfg /batteryreport fails with unexpected error

Running powercfg /batteryreport from elevated command prompt fails with following error:C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg /batteryreport Unable to perform operation. Cannot run powercfg /batteryreport. Error 0x408

Hi,

Windows 10 x64 1903

I cannot run powercfg /batteryreport from an elevated command prompt. The error:

"C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg /batteryreport

Unable to perform operation. An unexpected error (0x408) has occurred: (null)"

Diagnostic Policy Service is running.

Power service is running.

Ran:

"DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth"

To no avail.

Ran:

"sfc /scannow"

To no avail.

Tried running "powercfg /batteryreport" command from another admin profile, to no avail.

"Powercfg /?" returns the list of commands. Some commands produce the same error, others do not.

 

Error 0x422 on running powercfg /batteryreport from Administrator Command Prompt





I run on Windows 10 Home Single Language.

The command worked twice previously, but mysteriously stopped functioning later on, giving this error.

I've also tried powercfg /batteryreport /output C:\some\path\here.

I've checked this thread, and have not received a plausible answer.

Abnormalities in system components may be possible direction.

Is the phenomenon limited to this particular powercfg command parameter "/batteryreport"?

Is the situation the same after performing an "In-place Upgrade"?
