PDF iFilter no longer connected to Windows 11 search - was it an update that broke it?

As there is not PDF iFilter to enable Windows 11 to search PDF contents I installed the TET iFilter. After installation I reindexed and was able to search inside PDF contents.A recent search of PDF's, however, produced an incomplete result. After checking Indexing Options I see that the installed iFilter is no longer actice and my settings have reverted to the default 'File properties filter'The TET iFilter is still installed but no longer available as an option. To search PDF contents the 'text filter' is the only option presented.I'm wondering if an update to Windows 11 has reverted my index

    :)

Windows Search not indexing PDF files if using Adobe Reader

I thought I'd post this as an issue I came across today.

I noticed that the contents of PDF files were not showing up in Searches from File Explorer (and I guess Cortana).

I should be able to type in a word from a PDF file and, as long as the PDF file is in an indexed location, this should appear in search results.

It turns out that this is a problem which occurs when Adobe Reader is installed, apparently affecting x64 versions of Windows.

The search "iFilter" for PDFs gets broken, so the search doesn't index them. When looking in Indexing Options | Advanced | File Types, the entry for .pdf says "Registered iFilter is not found".

This seems to be the relevant page on Adobe's Knowledge base:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/p...0-install.html

Note that it says it's fixed in Adobe Reader 11.04, but I'm using a later version of Adobe Reader and still had the problem in Windows 10 x64.

What's up with PDF search Windows 11

By way of a postscript to my last comment, I've changed iFilter (TET) again and rebuilt my index. I now am getting the same results as I do when I search on OneDrive online (i.e. via the web interface).

Perhaps its an iFilter thing, perhaps it was the index rebuild. Either way, I remain perplexed as to why Windows does not ship with a PDF iFilter as standard??

    Searching in PDF?

Hey guys, I need to look up a large list of data from a PDF file, basically just to check if each entry of the list is in the pdf. Is there some way to do this without having to check one by one?
