  1. PC crashing under any load

My computer is freezing crashing when put under seemingly any continuous load, I think it is specifically any gpu load but I'm not sure. I've tried reinstalling windows, reapplying thermal paste, replaced ram the ram I had seemed pretty poorly made anyway, and adjusting fan controls to be higher more often, but the crash persists. Certain games can cause the crash anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, but running a stress test with AIDA64 typically takes 3-4 hours fairly consistently over 4 attempts. The behavior varies, sometimes audio continues for a while, sometimes audio cuts out first. s

    all games crash!

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

  3. PC crashes whenever loading up a game

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

Based on the information provided, it appears that your PC crashing issue when loading a game could be related to several potential causes. Here are some steps and considerations to help diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:

    1. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Issues:
      • Insufficient Power: Your GTX 1660 Super may not be receiving enough power, especially under load. Ensure your PSU is adequate for your system's power requirements. A 600W PSU should generally be sufficient, but if it's faulty or not delivering stable power, it could cause crashes.
      • Testing: Consider testing with a different, higher-quality PSU if possible. Users in similar situations have resolved their issues by upgrading their PSU.
    2. Graphics Card (GPU) Issues:
      • Thermal Paste and Cooling: Ensure that the thermal paste on your GPU is properly applied and that the cooling system is functioning correctly. Overheating, even if not immediately apparent, can cause crashes.
      • Driver Issues: Although you mentioned updating drivers, try using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove existing drivers and then reinstall the latest drivers from NVIDIA.
    3. Motherboard and BIOS:
      • BIOS Update: Ensure your motherboard BIOS is up to date. An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause compatibility issues with newer hardware or drivers.
      • Reseat Components: Reseat your GPU, RAM, and other components to ensure they are properly connected. Sometimes, loose connections can cause intermittent issues.
    4. Software and Configuration:
      • Overclocking: Disable any overclocking settings in your BIOS or software. Overclocking can sometimes lead to instability, especially if not properly configured.
      • Benchmarking and Stress Testing: Run benchmarks and stress tests for both your CPU and GPU to see if they can handle sustained loads without crashing. Tools like OCCT, FurMark, and 3DMark can be useful for this.
    5. Other Hardware Issues:
      • RAM Issues: Test your RAM using tools like MemTest86 to ensure there are no faults. Sometimes, faulty RAM can cause crashes under load.
      • Peripheral Issues: Disconnect all non-essential peripherals to rule out any external devices causing conflicts.
By following these steps, you should be able to narrow down the cause of your PC crashes and find a solution.

Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!

    PC crashing under any load

How do i stop File Explorer from loading and crashing over and over??

Holy moly! This solution seems to have worked! Two days now without File Explorer driving me insane with it's constant cycling of loading and crashing, loading and crashing. Hoping this is a permanent solution.

    Thanks much for your help.

Two days later and the problem has returned. File Explorer loading on its own and crashing, though not constantly the way it was before.
