Windows 10: Paperport 14 failing to load

I have been using Paperport 14 for many years on Windows 10 professional. Three days ago 25th January 2024, it failed to load. I have rebooted the PC but it still fails to load. The last Windows updates recorded are KB5034122 and KB5034275, both installed on 11th January and KB5034441 installed on 10th January.When the Paperport Icon is clicked or if I attempt to load via the Windows apps icon the start screen shows up but then closes down without any message as to why it closed.I have visited the Kofax website but this shows some comments but does not show how to register which you need to

Compatibility problem with Paperport Version 14 in Windows 10

According to what I've seen on the internet the only compatible version of Paperport with Windows 10 is Paperport 14.5 with patch 1. Which means the Paperport version you're using might need to be updated.

Compatibility problem with Paperport Version 14 in Windows 10

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue!

You may need to Run the compatibility troubleshooter. But first, uninstall the program the follow these steps:

1- Right click or hold tap on the “Paperport 14” executable installation file.

2- Left click or tap on the “Troubleshoot Compatibility” feature.

3- After the process has finished, left click or tap on the “Troubleshoot program” feature.

4- Now in the next window that appears, check the box next to “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”.

5- Left click or tap on the “Next” button to proceed.

6- In the next window you will need to select the previous version of Windows you know that the Paperport 14 app worked fine.

7- Left click or tap on the “Next” button again.

Now you will need to follow the instructions on the screen to finish the installation of the “Paperport 14” app.

8- After the installation has finished, choose the option “Yes, save these settings for this program”.

9- After the changes are saved, you will need to left click or tap on the “Close” button and try to run your Paperport 14 application.

Nuance Paperport is a third party program, and nothing to do with MS, you log on to your Nuance account to reinstall
