  1. Option Missing for Scanning an item file or folder with Windows Security

According to Microsoft's own instructions link below all I need to do is right-click on a file, select "more options" and then click "Scan with Microsoft Defender."However, there is no option to Scan with Microsoft Defender in the menu.I am using Microsoft's built in virus protection. Yes, I have antivirus protection is on and real-time protection to on as well.Scan an item with Windows Security - Microsoft SupportAny guesses as to why this wouldn't be working?

    Windows folder security.

Is there a way to disable ALL windows security on folders? I'm using Windows 7 and trying to replace some system files that may be currupt and I get the "You need permission..." bitching from Windows. I know I can take ownership of the folder through the security tab but it's getting REALLY old having to do this for each and every file and folder I'm trying to overwrite. *Bang Head :banghead:

I'm the administrator for christ sake. If I want to open my drive and take a crap in it, do I need permission from Microsoft?

  3. Skipping folder Scanning for VM

Hello, I'm Filipe and I'm an independent Community Advisor, and I'll do my best to help you.

To skip Hyper-V directories from folder scanning in Windows Security on Windows 11, you can add them to the list of excluded items. Here are the steps to do so:

Open Windows Security by clicking on the shield icon in the taskbar or by searching for "Windows Security" in the Start menu.

Click on the "Virus & threat protection" option.

Under the "Quick scan" or "Full scan" section, click on the "Scan options" link.

Scroll down to the "Exclusions" section and click on the "Add or remove exclusions" link.

Click on the "Add an exclusion" button and choose "Folder" from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to the Hyper-V directory that you want to exclude from scanning and select it.

Click on the "Exclude this folder" button to add it to the list of excluded items.

Once you have excluded the Hyper-V directories from scanning, Windows Security will skip them during future scans.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thank you!

    Best,

Option Missing for Scanning an item file or folder with Windows Security

Generating a .txt based file list in Windows 7

I want to be able to generate a .txt file that lists all the files and folders in a specific folder on my PC, but don't know the name of any programs that do that. Searched on google a bit and came up with this guide, but it's for XP and I can't seem to find some of the folder options to modify the .bat file. Any suggestions? Thanks

    http://www.theeldergeek.com/file_list_generator.htm

EDIT: The .bat file will do what I want if it is in the folder I want to do it in, but the option I want to add is having the right click option that it shows.
