Windows 10: Old laptop takes forever to show desktop after logging in.

Hi, so I finally decided to turn on my old gaming laptop that I haven't used in like 2 - 3 years. When I first turned it on, it was very slow and there were countless updates in progress. When it finally got mostly up to date, I was able to search and so I set it aside to deal with the next day. When I open it the next day, all is going good, until I after I log in to my account.The problem was that it only showed a blackscreen and cursor for like 5 minutes until the desktop decides to showup. Then I try to serach something in the search bar and I cant type anything in it despite me being able

We understand how difficult it could be and we appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to work this issue. However, in order to get clarity, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

1. Were you using the “Old email (account) address” regardless of not using laptop?
   
2. Are both the email addresses linked?
   
3. Could you please let us know, where exactly you get prompt for the password for the “Old email address” in the desktop?
   
4. What is the exact error message you get when you try to log in to laptop?
   
5. Does your desktop has two user profiles?
   

In the meantime, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check.



You would need to have internet connection in laptop, so that the password change could get updated and it seems that the laptop is not connected to the internet, we would suggest you to connect Ethernet cable to laptop and then
try logging in to the laptop with the new password for the old email address.

Can't Log into Windows on Old Laptop

Hello. I am trying to log into an old laptop to retrieve some photo files. The Windows password I have recorded does not work. I tried to reset the password, but the system is telling me that I need a recovery disk--which I do not have have. Then I tried to reset using the Windows recovery form, but I don't seem to be providing enough information to find the account. I currently have Windows on two other devices that use a PIN. They are showing up on my Microsoft device list, but the old laptop is not listed.

I'm pretty sure the old laptop is running Windows 10. Please help me access my photo files! Many thanks.

 

Windows 10 Log-in Takes Forever

I had an issue with ProfSvc. I knew it was caused by eset nod32 antivirus blocking the Profile Service. I tried to uninstall nod32 in Safe Mode, but it didn't work in safe mode. I downloaded eset uninstaller (offered by eset) and run it in safe mode. It uninstalled the antivirus for me successfully.
When I tried to log in, I got no more ProfSvc error, but the login process takes forever and doesn't proceed to showing the desktop.

I don't really want to reinstall the windows. Are there any suggestions to fix this problem?
Oh, by the way, it doesn't log in even in Safe Mode anymore.
The only way to get through is command prompt now.
