Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 in Dell Inspiron 6400 - unable upgrade to W10

I found this listing by Nvidia, for Win 10 compatibility,
Which NVIDIA GPUs are supported in Windows 10?

I have older Dells using GeForce 6150Le & GeForce7300 Le.
As an experiment, I ordered a low end ASUS GeForce 210 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 , ~ $32, and will see how that goes in passing the Win 10 Inspection.
Don't need any high end graphics, so cheap is the way.

  2. Are your Dells Inspiron 6400 machines? My problem is using that machine with a GeForce Go 7300 card and the lack of any driver for Windows 10. I accept that I do not nor will I need games performance so the 7300 has always been more than adequate for my needs.

    They would be an:
    Inspiron 518 w/ 6150LE
    Inspiron 530 w/ 7300LE
have a couple Inspiron 570's which upgraded to Win10 with no problem.

I can't really comment as I don't know the spec of these machines. Suffice to say my problem appears to be inextricably linked to my graphics card as that is the element which fails the Windows 10 compatibility test. Other machines may pass or fail the test on other grounds so any comparison may not be valid.

    Thanks for your interest.

Hi, I have installed succesfully Windows 10, my pc has the nvidia go 7300. I had Windows 8.1 and the driver was installed with Windows Update. So, with Windows 10, Windows update doesn't find the driver. Luckly I have Windows.old and the folder Nvidia Corporation so I have installed the driver from this folder... However an user has uploded the driver MEGA

I wonder if that driver could be used on a Win 7 machine; and would that unit now be eligible for a Win 10 upgrade ?
(GeForce 7300 LE on a Win 7 pc.)

So, I yanked out the GeForce 7300 le, told the motherboard to use its Intel G33/G31 graphics. Uninstalled all the Nvidia software, and put in my Win10 32 bit iso dvd, and did the upgrade.
Couldn't figure out how to get the Windows 10 upgrade advisor to run again, so the dvd was the next choice.

  8. Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 in Dell Inspiron 6400 - unable upgrade to W10

Weird to see some people cannot install Windows 10 in some of these situations. It doesn't make sense, because I've installed it on a several computers without any problems with the OS itself, and even on one very old Alienware laptop I have, with only a Pentium 4 and a Nvidia 6800 Go.

The only problem I'm having now is getting the 6800 Go to work on the laptop. I might try this driver listed here, hopefully it might work. I've been running circles trying to get the 6800 Go to work again like it did in Windows 8.1. I don't understand why these drivers are not available through Windows 10 update, but they were in 8.1.

  9. Thank you so much for posting this. I was literally at my wits end and the problems seemed endless. I figured I'd have to wait for Window 10 to get this update eventually since I knew the only drivers that I had known to work for my older laptop GPU, the 6800 Go, were the ones provided through Windows Update in 7/8.1.

You have no idea how happy you've made me. I've been tinkering with this laptop for four days straight, and I did so many ridiculous things to solve such a simple problem.

I really wish I knew where or how they find these drivers from Windows Update, but I'm very thankful that they did.

I have a Dell E1505/6400 with Nvidia Go 7300 that was successfully upgraded using the tool at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10

The upgrade installs a generic MS driver which must be replaced for better screen resolution. I am using the Windows 7 driver from the NVidia website.

Suggestion: Disable the Conexant HDA D110 MDC V.92 Modem (dialup) before and after upgrade curing a BSOD at shutdown/restart/sleep

  11. I have windows 10 pro x64 installed on a toshiba A200-10W laptop which also has the geforce go 7300. Here's what I did to install it. Since I had the nvidia 179.48 driver saved on a hard disk for windows 7 x64 (the link for the 179.48 driver is this: http://www.nvidia.com/download/drive...spx/8972/en-us), I right clicked on the file and selected properties. Then compatibility mode and chose windows 7 and Run as Administrator (Maybe that's not needed but it does no harm). Then I double clicked on the file. Setup starts but it fails to continue because the system says the driver is incompatible. The thing here is that the driver is now exported into C. After that, I right clicked on This PC and selected manage. In the device manager I expanded Display Adapters and right clicked on the microsoft basic adapter and selected update driver software. Then I selected Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer and after that browse. Go to C, NVIDIA, WinVista64, 179.48, IS, Display and when you get into this folder you 'll see that the driver is selected so just press open. If it's not, select the NVAA.INF file and then open. You will see that in the list of drivers the gefoce go 7300 is an option. Select it, install it, enjoy. Hope I helped!
