  1. New computer - Onedrive won't stop syncing even with all backup folders OFF!

I have had much misery from Onedrive on my other laptop with a long help sequence here and could not get to the point where my laptop and Onedrive were synced and I could control my files from my laptop. This week I got a new laptop and decided to not use Onedrive, and copied a backup folder manually to my desktop. But wouldn't it be nice if I could have both computers synced? I decided to give it another try. I signed in to Onedrive, turned off all the backup folders and other settings, and now have thousands and thousands of files being copied or backed up or synced or something I can't te

  2. Is there any way to use the onedrive app WITHOUT syncing core folders?

Yes. You can choose not to sync your personal shell folders during the OneDrive setup. If syncing has been enabled already for your core shell folders, you can disable syncing using these steps:

To revert the shell folder locations to default, open OneDrive and do the following:

Important: Before proceeding, copy the files in those special folders to another folder or external drive. Please don’t copy them anywhere under Desktop/Documents/Pictures. This is because disabling OneDrive backup for a folder erases the local copies of the files. Copying them to a different location beforehand will ensure that you don’t need to download them again from the OneDrive cloud.

    1. Right-click the OneDrive icon in the Notification area and click Settings.
    2. Select the Backup tab, and click Manage Backup
    3. In the Manage folder backup dialog, click on the Stop backup link under the special folder (Desktop, Documents, or Pictures)
    4. Click Stop backup in the confirmation dialog that appears.
    5. Repeat the step for each shell folder you want to revert to the original location.

  3. Why Does OneDrive Keep Trying To Backup My Desktop And How Do I Stop It?

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service provided by Microsoft that automatically backs up files and folders to the cloud. It is possible that OneDrive is attempting to back up your desktop files because the "Desktop" folder is included in the list of folders that are being synced by default.

To disable the backup of your Desktop folder, you can follow these steps:

Open OneDrive on your computer and click on the "Settings" icon in the taskbar.

    Click on the "Backup" tab.

Under "Folders to back up," click on "Manage backup."

Deselect the checkbox next to "Desktop."

Click "OK" to save your changes.

This should stop OneDrive from attempting to back up your Desktop folder. If you want to disable OneDrive entirely, you can also follow these steps:

Right-click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar.

    Select "Settings."

    Click on the "Account" tab.

    Click "Unlink this PC."

This will unlink your computer from OneDrive and disable the syncing of your files and folders.

New computer - Onedrive won't stop syncing even with all backup folders OFF!

    OneDrive File Syncing and Backup

If you stop the Backup, new files that are created will only save on to the PC and will not going to get synced to Onedrive cloud and will not be available to other devices, they will not be protected in Onedrive. Turning On the Backup means it will autosave all the new and existing files to your Onedrive Cloud, once its done saving, Onedrive will Sync your files so that it will be available to other devices that you will use.

Question #3: Yes, you can go directly to Onedrive folder in File Explorer and manually create a folder there and copy and paste your Music files directly to it.
