Windows 10: Navigation pane missing from Save file dialog box

I can't tell if this is a Windows 7 thing or an app thing, but sometimes when I go to save a new file or Save As, I get a pop-up box that's missing the normal Explorer Navigation pane which I use to select a Favorites folder from... instead the box only shows Recent Places, Desktop, Libraries, Computer, and Network.The folder I want to start from is in my user folder, so I end up having to add that folder to my desktop, then click into it from there, which is still more steps than just clicking a folder in my Favorites.Can someone explain this?

I understand that you would like to have a collapsed view of the items on the navigation pane of the File Explorer while saving a file. To do this, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and see if it works.

• Open File Explorer
  and click on the View tab.
  
• Click on the drop down next to
  Navigation Pane and uncheck Show all folders.
  
• Exit File Explorer
  and try saving a file now.

File Explorer Missing Various Locations/Shortcuts in Navigation Pane

Solved through pain and agony, installing Windows 10 on a second hard drive, and ruthlessly comparing their registries between each other, sorting each entry by alphabetical order.

Step one: Navigate to HKCR\WOW6432Node\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}

Step two: Make sure the dword System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree is set to 1

Step three: Delete the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AllowedEnumeration

Step four: Be happy the pain is over

Step five (optional): cry
