My Windows Hello has a problem not recognizing my camera. This has worked fine for several years. Camera works in other apps.My IR Camera is physically attached to my monitor, and has a push down feature to turn it off, but I always keep it up and in service.There nothing blocking the camera, when I use the camera app, it works fine. It just won't turn on for facial recognition any more. I believe this stoppedworking when I uninstalled a few games that were using too much hard drive space. I did try uninstalling biometrics, and restarting, that didn't help.So i removed and tried to reset up fa

Windows hello face will not recognize any cameras

Hi, I recently built a new PC, been doing it for 25 years or more. I did a clean Windows 10 Pro install, and everything went great and the system works fine ... Except Windows Hello Face.

I have a Logitech Brio 4K UHD that supports Face, and I used it on the previous build and it worked fine. When I try and enable it, I get the "can't find compatible camera" message. I feel like I've tried everything on the Web. I also noticed the "Biometrics Devices" folder in device manager isn't there, despite the camera being present.

This is what I know and what I've tried:

• Windows update is current on everything, including optional updates
  
• The camera works fine for Hello on my Windows 10 and my wife's Windows 11 laptops
  
• The driver installed for my camera under "imaging devices" in device manager is the same version as the laptop it works on
  
• I've installed the driver several times
  
• Removed and re-added the Windows Hello Face optional feature several times
  
• Manually installed the INF file in the Windows bio folder several times
  
• Enabled several group policies and registry keys per internet suggestions
  
• The camera absolutely supports Hello
  
• I tried several USB ports on different motherboard controllers
  
• I've run the several suggested DISM and SFC command line utilities ... Everything checked out
  
• Disabled anti-virus
  

I'm not going to re-install Windows ... This is a fresh install on an empty M2 drive and I spent the weekend setting it up. Everything else works perfectly.

Any suggestions? I'm out of ideas. Thanks.

 

Windows hello can't recognize camera

Windows hello cannot recognize my camera so I cannot use face recognition login. I tried to connect USB camera with the same result. What’s your suggestions?

issues related to the camera. In order to isolate the cause of this error, please follow the methods mentioned below.

Method 1: Check if the camera is working.

1. Log in to the system.
2. Go to Start menu and select Camera app.
3. Check if the camera is working fine.
4. If not, please update camera driver (you can refer
   Update drivers in Windows 10 for the steps).

Method 2: Troubleshoot problems with Windows hello.

Since you are getting the error "Couldn't start camera. Please sign in with PIN", we would suggest you to refer

Troubleshoot problems with Windows hello Surface under the section Windows Hello doesn't recognize my face or fingerprint or there is an error message and try performing the troubleshooting steps and check if it resolves the issue.
