Windows 10: My Phone Explorer not connecting

Having worked well for some time the program is now unable to connect with my Android phone. An error notice says it is not aple to 'obtain the phone's ISP'. I have read all the help info available through the app without finding the solution.

I use MyPhoneExplorer.

I assume you have already installed the phone's driver on your computer.

Run the MyPhoneExplorer client on your Android and, in its user interface, click on Settings. There's a setting for a WiFi PIN. I have always kept this clear and suggest that you do the same [at least until you are familiar enough with it to want to experiment].1 Click on its icon




2 Click on Settings




3 Click on WiFi PIN




4 Clear the WiFi PIN & click on OK



I would be interested in seeing a screenshot of that "protected by a PIN" message because I have never seen it.

I have never seen this error.

These suggestions are just ideas

1 Since you started off saying you had "established contact between my PC and MPE and started checking out the many useful services it provides" I wonder if you have since altered anything to do with the connection type [USB / WiFi hotspot / WiFi network / ...].

2 In the instructions listed in that MPE forum link, have you done the procedure in the line "ATTENTION: On Android 4.2.2 and newer the USB-Debugging option is hidden, here is a tutorial how to unlock USB-Debugging for this devices:"? {I've now added this link to the earlier post because I realised that I had referred to it within a general MPE forum link as just some sort of 'info' link even though it was crucial}
3 Connect the phone by USB and check it appears as a drive in File explorer & that you can browse it [you don't need MPE for this to work and any problems would probably mean the correct driver had not been installed]

4 Do you get the same error if the phone is disconnected [i.e. it is a problem on the computer rather than between the computer & the phone]?

5 Does the phone's MPE client start running when you try to run MPE on the computer? Does Google PlayStore show that it needs updating? We used to have to start it separately but mine just starts automatically these days.

6 Do you get the same error whether it is a WiFi connection or USB connection? Or have you only tried USB so far?

I presume you mean it should show up in the same way a Flash Drive does? It does not. But does it require OTG? I have OTG adapters to connect Flash Drives to the phone, but not an OTG cable for the PC, so I must get one. I used to connect via a cable to my Windows phone, but that did not support OTG. I often found it useful. If for some reason connecting phone and PC with a cable does not work I cannot use that method to connect with MPE.

I hope this makes sense to you! Despite what might be concluded from my response to 3. above, the PC did connect with the phone at the beginning, for about a day --- so it should be connecting now. Tomorrow I will try your other suggestions.
