Windows 10: My laptop updated itself to Windows 11 and now my laptop won’t even turn on it’s just a...

My Lenovo laptop has been asking me to update to Windows 11 for ages and I have just been pressing remind me later. After I had finished using it I had left it to the side to charge. In the meantime it had automatically updated itself and now it won’t even turn on at all it’s just a black screen?! I am so annoyed as my laptop has literally finished the warranty by 1 month so the store I bought it from are unable to look at it. Can anyone please help?!

Laptop won' t shutdown (or restart) and sleep [takes forever]

The situation:

• When shutting down, the laptop proceeds as normal until the screen turns off.
• After the screen turns off, it takes a while for the battery LED to go off.
• After that the power led remains on and it looks like the laptop is stuck in this state forever.
• When I try to get my laptop to sleep, something similar happens; the power led remains on, the battery led turns off and the laptop appears to be stuck in this state.

My laptop is: Asus FX553VD.

What I've tried:

• I have tried to troubleshoot power management and power options.
• Tried clean boot.
• Updated the BIOS.
• Reinstalled windows and tried shutdown and sleep (without installing the drivers and stuff), however that didn't work either.

Additional Info:

• I have multiple operating systems installed in my laptop, however this problem persists on windows only (the OSes are installed on different drives).
• The disk usage is abnormally high.
• There are spikes in CPU usage that kick up the fan really fast while idle.

Please suggest other ideas as to what I should do?

[It appears that the only option I have left is to reinstall everything]

 

Laptop won't Turn On

Someone came to me with an HP 2000 laptop that won't turn on. Luckily I had the same model laptop in working condition, so naturally I tried replacing out the battery and cord power supply to rule those out. The laptop still won't turn on, any ideas? I've already tried holding down the power button with everything removed.

Have you tried showing the laptop some love? I once had a laptop not turn on until I gave it a hug. I tried again and it booted up. True story. *Big Grin
