My laptop froze while working on unsaved wordpad document. I have recovered temp file but it is in log format and only shows code I have changed to ODT and it is still the same

If you are as greedy as I am you better look up for free software! I used to find a lot of reviews of that kind of softwares. But I remember only two that would work for Windows - Recuva and Disk Drill https://www.cleverfiles.com/recover-unsaved-word-excel.html

There may be remnants of the file so put %temp% in the Search box or, if showing, in the Run box [or press Windows + R], the usual place for temporary files [other than Temporary Internet Files used by Internet Explorer]. But Wordpad is a Lite version of Word and doesn't have all the features so that may not work the same as in Word.
