Windows 10: My keyboard lights up but won't type

Hi,My wired keyboard is connected to my computer. It lights up but won't type. I've unplugged and plugged it back in. Uninstalled it from the control panel and updated the driver, plus it says "device is working properly". I've checked for window updates, ran troubleshooting and that found nothing. Restarted my computer too. I'm not sure what else to do and I'm guessing it might just be a wiring issue but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Volume Mute Light won´t change color

Ran the tests and all came up o.k.. Looked for but couldn´t find any function test for the lights above the keyboard. During the whole test sequence the mute light was green-blue, like the volume up and down lights but when I then rebooted the light went orange again and stayed so even though pressing it allowed the mute function to turn on and off, so now what?

Before I follow your suggestions, a quick update: as the updating didn´t seem to work I stopped trying and just left it alone for awhile. About a half hour later I looked over and saw that the mute light was now blue. I tried the button but it and the volume buttons did not work at all. On the screen I was told that I needed to reboot, which I did and now the system has returned back to the way it was before: everything works except that the mute light does not change to blue as it should when the speakers are not muted. WTF?

 

Keyboard lights

1. Did you mean the keyboard backlight or indicator lights (i.e. Num Lock)?
2. If your problem is about indicator lights, are you using a external keyboard?

--KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT--

Consult your laptop's manual downloaded from the internet. You might want to install some drivers in order to use the backlight.

--INDICATOR LIGHT--

1. LAPTOP KEYBOARD
   • If indicator light, try pressing the Caps Lock key and see if the caps lock light turned on. Same process for Scroll and Num lock.
   • Some laptops may show the "Caps Lock ON" in your laptop screen.
2. EXTERNAL KEYBOARD (EITHER USB OR BLUETOOTH)
   • When you use the external keyboard, locate the "Caps Lock" key indicator light. Try pressing the "Caps Lock" and make sure if it is turned on. Same process for Scroll and Num Lock.

If these are not working, try installing or updating the drivers. You'll need to restart after installing.
