Windows 10: My External hard disk is on 100% active time whenever it's plugged in.

I'm using windows 11 and my laptop spec is Ryzen5 4000 series with 16 GB RAM , 8GB GTX graphics card, 1TB Internal with 256GB SSD.. problem: Whenever i plug in my 1TB External Toshiba hard disk, The active time is always on 100%. Where the hard disk is completely formatted and it also makes the laptop completely slow, like i can't do anything in that time.

I already did these type of steps like formatting whole hard disk then clean install windows 11 and didn't install any third party apps only apps were windows stock

But still facing 100% active time hard disk but my hard disk usage was only 2% or 3%. My pc gets slow whenever active time reaches 100% and most of the time active time is always 100%.

hello my name is arsalan ahmad quraishi and i am facing an issue of system slow boot & slow working. i opened my task manager app and saw 100% disk active time while disk usage is below 40%. I already did clean windows 11 installation but it didn't solve my problem. i fully scanned my all the hard disk with good antivirus nothing is found. checked my ram , hard disk and motherboard to ensure that those are not faulty. cpu temps are normal. updated all driver and windows update still facing slow performance. my hard disk is new 4tb wd blue and 4tb seagate baracuda. i tried to inter change these to check if there is any fault on hard disk hard disk was not faulty i checked it by plugging it into my friend's PC. every time i open any program first time after boot hard disk active time reaches suddenly 100% then after 7 to 8 seconds program opens and if close it and reopen it then it open suddenly. i know you might think that 7 to 8 seconds are normal time to open program in hdd but believe me my pc is slow. But it wasnt always slow when i assemled it. one day my pc gave a strange noise from cabinet and from that day this 100% active time of disk came. i also changed my psu and motherboard after that but still getting slow down problem. please help me its been a year facing this. faced this issue in windows 10 and 11.

• Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?
• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?
