Why isn't my external CD/DVD disc drive being acknowledged on my HP Envy? I had this same problem with the HP external drive in the past, however, when I discussed it with one of the techs as he was working on my computer, he advised that it was the actual drive itself and found it to be defective. He was supposed sto send me a return label and a new external CD/DVD drive... which, by the way, I'm still waiting for over a year later! Anyway, I'm thinking that it probably wasn't the external disc drive after all since apparently others seem to be having the same issue. I went to my device manag

I recently purchased an external cd/dvd drive. The problem is with re-writeable CDs. FORMATTING and re-writing. The unit works with re-writeable DVDs (FORMATTING and re-writing. When I checked in DEVICE MANAGER, it lists the drive with the HP brand. Listing it as "hp cd/dvd W SN208FB". Even though the brand name on the drive is Roofull (I got it on Amazon). [Even though SOME USB devices don"t need a driver----some do]

My System : Dell Latitude 7490 laptop......Windows 10 Pr0 64-bit.....16Gb RAM....512Gb SSD.

Should I look into finding an HP driver for this cd/dvd burner ?

External cd/dvd Drive

2.0 usb external hard drive not working with my 3.0 port laptop. My laptop is a new HP i7, 8gb, 1 tb. The laptop has a 3.0 port and the external drive is a 2.0 Verbatim slimline cd/dvd writer. Using the installation cd, components of the external drive
were installed on my laptop but when i attempt to play a dvd in the drive, the dvd spins and the name of the movie I’m attempting to watch even shows on screen but an error message appears stating: “the feature you are trying to access is not available in
your product. Click the “info” button to find our offer.” I like watching movies on my laptop so Can someone tell me how to fix this? HELP!!!

 

External CD/DVD Drive

Hello everyone,

I'm new on the forum, and I have a quick question.
I have a Toshiba Satellite X200 laptop, it has been dropped and the cd/dvd drive will not read anything, it just sounds like it is loading, and blinks yellow.
I'm going to get an external cd/dvd drive for now until the laptop is taken in (if warranty isn't over).
Is there any specific external cd/dvd drives you guys know are compatible with the Satellite X200? Or will I not have a problem with compatibility.
