Windows 10: my dell monitor keeps giving me a black screen and in the bottom corner it says "HDMI ?"

does anyone know how to fix this? i used to get this alot but after i moved something it hasnt popped up again but now its doing it again and ive tried to move some cords around but this time it still keeps saying and doing the same thing. im not sure how to fix it does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Laptop monitor is black but HDMI to TV works

So, I seem to be having the opposite problem of most. After updating my laptop to windows 10 the laptop monitor basically does not work - it's as if the graphics card does not see it. When I turn the computer on it shows me the dell logo with options to
open the boot settings, and it starts to show the graphics for loading windows and then just goes to a black screen. Like others I thought maybe it's the issue with thinking there's 2 monitors when there really are not because it's acting like my dual monitor
work computer at start-up, but none of the listed fixes worked. I tried to plug the computer into the TV via an HDMI cable and that does work but the laptop monitor goes from a 'light' black to an 'off' black. Of course the computer at that point only thinks
there's one monitor which is the TV when I go into the settings. I've tried every combination of plugging in and pulling out the HDMI at different points in the reboot process but I always end up in the same place of having to plug the laptop into the TV to
use it. It's as if the Intel graphics doesn't see the laptop monitor as an option. I also tried to update the graphics drivers but it says there are no available updates. Anyone else have this problem and a suggested solution so I can move my laptop away
from the TV?!

In order to get clarity on this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

1. Are you aware of any changes made to this computer prior to the issue?
   
2. Are you trying to use dual-monitor setup?
   
3. What is the make and model number of your laptop?
   

In Project option from notification area, you will have the following 4 options and their functions.



1) PC screen only - This option will only enable your main monitor or your laptops display. Once you enable this option, your second monitor will go black.

2) Duplicate - This option will duplicate the same image on both the displays.

3) Extend - This option will extend the image to your second display, so that you can use both images as a single desktop, giving you the ability to move windows from one screen to the other.

4) Second screen only - In this option, you will only see the image on the second monitor and not your primary display, so once you turn on this option, your main display/laptops screen will go black.



If you have enabled the correct option and still facing issues, then I suggest you to
Update Graphics Drivers and check for the issue.



Note: Before updating the Graphics Drivers,
disconnect your second monitor. Once you update the Graphics Drivers,
restart the computer once, and connect your second monitor via HDMI and check for the issue.

Screen going black with hdmi in top left corner

So I’ve had this problem recently where my computer will black screen there is no mouse but it has hdmi in the top left corner as if the hdmi cable is not in but it is. It only goes away when I manually restart my pc. This only seems to happen on Xbox games / from the Microsoft store.
