Windows 10: Multiple instances of the explorer.exe builds up over a day with Win 11 latest updates.

Its 2025 and still Multiple instances of the explorer.exe building up over a day with Win 11 latest updates. This has been reported by others up to a few years ago.All I am doing is opening and closing folders. I have checked the computer for malware and viruses and it clean Used Malwarebytes and Spyhunter5.PC Rebooted and still over a day they build again.This never happened on Win 10. Its nuisance as when there are too many explorers running as found in the task manager ..like 30 to 50 it sometimes affects to opening apps. The Processor is an I7-11800H and Ram is 16GB. Win 11 v

Multiple tabs in File Explorer

Love the new option in File Explorer for multiple tabs.

I have been unable to find a way to re-open all tabs in a single instance of File Explorer. When I select the Option to "Restore previous folder windows at logon", File Explorer opens a new instance for each of the tabs that I previously had open. I would certainly prefer for a single instance to open with the previous tabs in one instance, the same as what I can do in Windows Internet Explorer.

All suggestions appreciated

Okay, I'm not seeing Windows Explorer in my system:




never mind - I see it under Processes when I open Task Manager.

And when you "expand" Windows Explorer, what do you see?

 

Why does Windows 11 File Explorer display multiple instances of the same folders?

I had already changed some of the Options in Explorer, but the display still contains the duplicated Folders, which are not additional Folders, but duplicate listings.

It is unclear why Microsoft would make Explorer so confusing, to deliberately display multiple instances of all of the Folders.

I realize you are not with Microsoft, but do you have any suggestions on how I can contact MS?
