Does XBox Series X support Miracast over Infrastructure? Specifically, can it act as a receiver from my PC.

    Miracast over Infrastructure not working

So, I have a notebook and I have a tablet PC.
Both running Windows 10 x64 1803 (PC runs PRO, tablet runs Home).
Both are connected the same network: notebook is connected via Ethernet cable and tablet PC is connected via Wi-Fi.

I'd like to make tablet PC to act as a second screen using built-in Windows tools.
When I enable Wi-Fi on both notebook and tablet PC, then open Connect app on my tablet PC, my notebook easily finds second screen (Win+P > Connect to a wireless display) and everything works as needed. So, Miracast over Wi-Fi (MoW) working

I googled a little and found that Windows 1703+ has an ability to use 'miracast over infrastructure': connecting external display using existing connections, not direct Wi-Fi connection. It is called 'Miracast over infrastructure' (MoI) and it is documented in 'MS-MICE' protocol.

On Microsoft site it is told that MoI is supposed to be working exactly the same way MoW works: end user does not have to know how receiver is connected.

But in my case, I can not find any displays this way.

The notebook PC can find tablet PC over mDNS and ping it:
    ping CHUWI-TAB

So, I don't even know where to start diagnostics...could you help me?

  3. Miracast over Infrastructure Validation and Troubleshooting

I'm looking for some assistance with troubleshooting Miracast over Infrastructure. Specifically, validation that it's even working. From what I understand using it is supposed to be seemless and not any different than the typical Miracast.

The only problem being is how exactly do I verify that it's working? I don't see any indicators that it's doing over Infrastructure. That's one of the first things I want to check or understand, from a visibility standpoint how would I be able to check? If it's not clearly visible, is there a way to dig in and maybe run some commands to validate that it's actually doing it?

I've followed the guide listed here: Miracast on existing wireless network or LAN - Surface Hub

The devices that I'm testing with are on the same network, and there's no firewalling between them. The only thing that may be causing issues is that they are both on separate domains. This is between a Lenovo T460s Laptop running Windows 10 1803 and a Microsoft Surface Hub device running the latest OS as of Nov 2018, which should be fully up to date as of this posting.

I couldn't find much documentation on the subject. It would be awesome if there was a tool you could run to test to see Miracast over Infrastructure compatibility and maybe what's failing or preventing it from happening.

The reason I'm troubleshooting this is due to performance issues, and also just a way to validate and understand that it's working as intended (or fix it if it isn't working).

    Thanks!

  4. MS-MICE Miracast over Infrastructure

Miracast over Infrastructure from ethernet Win 10 PC to Wifi Surface 6.

Aim: use my Surface 6 as a second monitor to extend the display of my PC via Miracast over Infrastructure.

Setup: Desktop PC with nVidia 1070 graphics. Windows 10 1903, connected to Wifi router/switch via ethernet. No wifi card. Surface 6 Pro, Windows 10 1903 connected to same Wifi router via 5Ghz secured with WPA2PSK. Devices can see each other
    on the private network.

    Troubleshooting:

I cannot seem to project from my desktop to my surface, the Connect App on the surface reports it is available to receive. The PC Connect action centre applet says it is not setup for Miracast. I have searched Technet, stackexchange and MS support for assistance
with MS-MICE. The problem appears to be with the Miracast Source. Some suggest that the initial setup needs to be entirely over wifi before transitioning to infrastructure, some detail must be WPA2PSK or WPA2Enterprise, others talk about "same Enterprise network",
suggesting this might be a domain specific technology rather than of-the-shelf consumer network. Most of the information is about Surface Hub, which is a whiteboard sized Surface, rather than a Surface Pro.

Question: How do I use extant infrastructure to extend my display to my Surface 6?
