    Microsoft Word is broken. Need to be repaired, but it won't show on "Programs and Features"...


    I'm using Word 2019, it used to work fine until recently I keep getting (0xc0000142) error code when I try to open it.

    They say repairing it on "Programs and Features" options in the Control Panel should fix it. But problem is that when I go there, Word doesn't show up at all. Help please.

    I have a lot of ms word files on my pc. But one of them showed me an error - Getting unknown error messages while opening (.doc) or (.docx) files. I don't know how to open my word file or repair microsoft word. Any suggestions, guys, please.

    Is it just one file, or all your word files?

    With the exception of Outlook, I have yet to find a reason to stop using Office 2000, 2003, and 2007. They open all the latest files just fine, and they work just fine.

    Hi Barbara, follow these steps to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .

    Open Control Panel - Programs and Features

    Click Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications

    At the top, click 'Change'

    On the resulting dialog, click 'Repair' - choose the Online Repair, it is a comprehensive fix

    That should fix any issues with your Office Installation . . .
