Windows 10: Microsoft sculpt Keyboard Mouse Dongle

I have several Sculpt keyboard mouse packages and one of the usb dongles was misplaced. I understand from other posts that the dongles are uniquely parred to the keyboard and mouse and microsoft refused to replace these items. In July 2024, California's Right to Repair Act SB 244 went into effect. This law requires electronics and appliance manufacturers to supply necessary parts, tools, and documentation for repairs to both independent repair shops and product owners. I try to add this in some of the cases that I read when searching for this problem, but the threads are locked, so I decide to write this in an effort to assist future users with the same problem.

Also, I’d like to suggest the Microsoft team to update this driver default parameter of adding it as a clear option on

Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center.

 

Broken dongle on Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard

I bought a Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard 6 months ago. Today I accidentally forgot to remove the rather large dongle from my laptop before putting it into my bag and the dongle got crushed. Is there any way to continue to use the keyboard/mouse without the
dongle? Can I get a replacement dongle?

 

Lost Microsoft Sculpt Ergo Keyboard, but still have mouse and USB dongle. How to pair new keyboard to old dongle

Delta airlines lost my suitcase that had my Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard in it. I still have the Mouse and dongle so I ordered another sculpt ergo keyboard.

However, to my surprise, I realized the keyboard has its own dongle and doesn't communicate with the old dongle that works with my mouse. I don't have an extra USB port so I can't use both at the same time, so either keyboard or mouse....

Is there any way to pair a keyboard to the same dongle the mouse uses like it used to be or do I have to return the keyboard and buy a non-Microsoft keyboard and mouse from a company like Logitech since they are re-programable.
