Microsoft Parental Controls its screen time do I have to input it manually all the time?

Okay so I understand Microsoft Parental Controls screen time controls are for limiting our kids screen time but, why does it take a long time for requests to be registered by Microsoft Parental Controls. As I accept my kids request but for them nothing is happening, they do it again and again and it still doesn't, so I get pulled out of my room/ office to go and have to input it manually and then it finally works. But the thing is I have to get pulled out of my office for the screen time controls to work, and well it does not help especially when I'm trying to get certain projects, and the kid

  2. Parental Control - Adding more time doesn't work

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will assist you with this.

I suggest you to delete the corrupted files yourself and see if it helps to resolve the issue, please follow these steps:

    1) Make sure your children are signed out of any monitored accounts.

    2) Sign in with an administrator account and find the folder that contains the corrupted files.

There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is to enter the complete file path:

    • On the Start screen, type C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls and press Enter.

    • If you’d rather open each folder individually, follow these steps:

    a. Go to This PC

    b. Open C:, open the
ProgramData folder, open the Microsoft folder, open the
Windows folder, and open the Parental Controls folder.

    3) Delete all contents of the Parental Controls folder.

This will delete any corrupt files. Your settings will be downloaded again from familysafety.microsoft.com the next time you sign in.

Hope it helps. Reply with the result and I'll be happy to help you further. Thank you

Microsoft Parental Controls its screen time do I have to input it manually all the time?

MS parental controls/screen time extremely buggy

I've used MS parental controls/screen time for months but it's never worked properly. After months of trying to get parental controls to work properly I've managed to figure out at least HOW to get it to work, but it's extremely inconvenient.

It works fine if I want to UNBLOCK something, I simply log into MS parental controls in browser and unblock it. But every time I want to BLOCK an app, I have to:

    • Log into the child's computer admin account
    • Restart computer
    • Go into MS folder
    • Change the name of "parental controls" folder or delete it
    • Sign off
If I don't do all of the above then re-blocking the app does absolutely nothing. I'm guessing every time you try to block an app, the "parental controls" folder gets corrupt?? This is really stupid because not only is it inconvenient,
but I have to find a time my kid is not on the computer (which is rare for teens on weekends) then quickly do that before he notices.

Is this normal? The folder getting corrupted EVERY time you block something?
