    Microsoft Mouse 5000 - sudden intermittent fault


    I have been using a wireless MS keyboard and mouse 5000 for 3 years on my Windows 10 Laptops.
    Yesterday the mouse just started to give me issues. I changed the batteries, pressed the reconnect button, pulled out the USB dongle and re-inserted it.
    The mouse works for about a minute and then stops working. This happens intermittently.
    I have updated Windows, gone through the forum topics related to the same issue and have tried all the different suggestions without any luck.
    Can someone please assist?

    Your response was is correct that NO passkey should be required for Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Mouse 5000.

    Your instructions are totally useless.

    • The "device add" software DOES NOT OFFER options to select No passkey.
    • 0000 is not an accepted passkey.
    • the suggested article is useless for resolving the problem

    Why does Microsoft continue releasing Windows updates that fail to perform as well as the version that they replace? Especially for stable devices.

    Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Mouse 5000 is a mature stable product that continues to work my other devices, but NOT Windows 10 Home 1809 Build 17763.503.

    Are mature Microsoft devices NOT part of the product verification test matrix? If NOT, WHY NOT!

    No wonder WIndows PC sales are slumping.

    • dell latitude D420 laptop, but it doesn't matter which computer I have it on
    • There is no power on or power off button on the microsoft wireless mouse 5000
    • the mouse works fine
    • it has a transceiver. it is a usb mouse
