Windows 10: Microsoft Lifecam 5001 no longer recognized in Windows 10

After the recent windows updates my Microsoft Lifecam 5001 is no longer recognized by windows. Windows 10 does not even see this as a camera / mic any longer instead i see a "Unknown USB Device Port Reset Failed" with a yellow triangle in the device manager.


1. I have tried uninstalling the device, restarting the machine several times--no go.

2. I have tried to download the Life cam 3.6, as well as the HD5001 firmware update and run it in compatibility mode for windows 7--both options failed.


I am running

Windows Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.746


the lifecam default driver that windows 10 loads by its self is

If i go into the properties of the device and then go to the events, this is what i see.

MS Lifecam HD-5001 No Longer Recognized by Windows 10

After a recent update to Windows 10, my MS Lifecam HD-5001 is no longer recognized. I tested it on a Windows 7 PC and found that there is nothing wrong with the camera. So it must be due to the recent update. I have tried to reinstall the driver, but cannot
because Windows only sees the camera now as an unknown USB device. And neither the driver nor the software will allow installation as a direct result. I spent $50 for a new Logitech webcam because of this. Please advise. Thank you.

 

Lifecam HD-5001 not recognised after latest Windows 10 update

I have just updated to the latest Windows 10 build this morning and my LifeCam HD-5001 is no longer recognised.

The Microsoft site indicates that there is no driver download for higher than Windows 7 because it should be recognised.

Any ideas?

 

LifeCam HD-5001 not working on Windows 10

Recently found an old LifeCam HD-5001 with everything inside while I was cleaning up my closet. Everything is still in shape but when I try to set it up on my Laptop, it says "This app can't run on this PC" underneath that it says "LifeCam does not work
on this version of Windows. An updated app may be available." I go to this link https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/d/lifecam-hd-5001 and downloaded the Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) firmware update and Lifecam 3.6 both saying "This app can't run on
this PC, LifeCam does not work on this version of Windows. An updated app may be available."

Any solutions?
