Microsoft is not discontinuing the classic Skype app for Windows anytime soon

Microsoft recently announced that the classic version of Skype would be retired in the fall and the users were required to upgrade to a newer, better and modern version of Skype in order to continue to use the messaging service.

A number of Skype users took to the social media websites such as Reddit and the community board to complain about the new Skype, that is supposed to replace classic Skype. The users said that they hated the new Skype update and a small number of people called appalling.

Skype classic (version 7.0) is indeed outdated and it no longer supports the modern improvements that the software giant might want to implement in near future. Last month, the company said that the application will be pulled on September 1 for all users.

Microsoft has apparently extended the deadline and said it would continue to support Skype 7 for now, that means the app isn’t going to stop working on your computers anytime soon.

“Based on customer feedback, we are extending support for Skype 7 (Skype classic) for some time,” Microsoft said in an update to a discussion post on its community forum. “Our customers can continue to use Skype classic until then,” Microsoft explains.

And not only that but also:

Windows 10 Anniversary Update will double the number of Start menu ads/promoted apps

Sure, all that stuff can be uninstalled but then again who needs more crapware

edit: without that W10 clean installation could've been much faster just like on ltsb version

clean out-of-box start menu on W10 ltsb
