Windows 10: Microsoft defender virus scanning option missing on my PC

Win11. No idea when, but Microsoft defender virus scanning option is missing. I can find 'Virus & Threat Protect' button from 'search' icon on task bar. And I got 'Page not available, Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app, and the item you tried to access is not available. Contact IT helpdesk for more info'. However, I am sure I logged in my personal account with administer authorization. I do have school account and work account linked with this PC, but this is my personal computer and none of the account is administer. How can I fix it?

"Virus and Threat Scan" Option missing from Windows Defender

A week ago, I downloaded the Microsoft Office apps so I could get access to Excel and Word for my school work. After logging in today, I noticed that Windows prompted me to change my PIN and upon entry found that there was no option for me perform a security
scan in Windows defender like I usually do. After signing in and out constantly to see if anything changed, I decided to reinstall Windows to check if that would fix the issue, which did solve it. However, in reinstalling the apps that were removed, I found
that the "Virus and Threat Scan" option went missing again right after I installed Microsoft Office. My question is if I can somehow access and restore the ability to "Virus and Threat Scan" option in Windows Defender without reinstalling Windows?

"Virus and Threat Scan" Option missing from Windows Defender

Apologies, I misunderstood Step 5 and found the two files as mentioned and have now disabled them both alongside the "Client Interface's" option of "Enable headless UI mode". After restarting Win10 and opening Windows Defender, the issue still persists with
"Virus and Threat Protection" Option still missing.

I also tried the REG DELETE command for the Command Prompt and it gave me same error " system unable to find the specified registry key or value." That;s update I have regarding this issue.

 

Virus scan options missing - quick scan only, advanced scan crashes

The last version in which this screen was named 'Windows Defender Security Centre' was 1803. From 1809 on it was renamed 'Windows Security'.





Clicking 'Run a new advanced scan' should give you all the scan options.





Try running SFC /SCANNOW in a Command Prompt (Admin) to find and repair possible system corruption.
