Windows 10: Microphone on WhatsApp working temporarily before stopping completely. How do I fix that?

Whenever I'm on a call with my cousin on WhatsApp the microphone is working perfectly before suddenly stopping,It would do this every time. My cousin would have to recall every time, so it is back to working temporarily. I searched for solutions on the internet, but no perfect solution showed up. The error message that comes up whenever the microphone stops working says "Your microphone is unavailable. Click here to troubleshoot" When I click on it, it would bring me to the troubleshoot settings. Now, I can't find an exact troubleshooter for the microphone.., but I think It's the "Speech" trou

Sennheiser GSP 350. Microphone stops working when I open any game

Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

Step by step fix:

• I went into recording devices
• I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
• Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
• Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't

Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?

 

No Whatsapp Mic

W10 Whatsapp text works fine but I can't get audio out to work. Have been through all the "how to" help and can't find a microphone to turn on for Whatsapp. Thank you. - - - Updated - - - Ok, let's try another approach. This is a new ASUS laptop and I am new to W10. It is not just Whatsapp; I cant get the microphone to work on other apps either. I've been through all the steps with privacy, camera, connecting apps and I guess a few others. There must be some simple enable step I'm missing. - - - Updated - - - Well, persistence does pay off. I followed some instructions to check for needed driver updates with My Asus and yes, there were newer versions for audio and camera. I installed them and all is well. Funny thing is checking in Device Manager I was told I had the latest of everything. So I learned something new this evening.

 

Microphone suddenly stopped working

My microphone is still not working. I even checked the BIOS as someone had suggested but there is no listing for the microphone in there.
