Windows 10: Messed up keyboard keys

I own a Dell Inspiron series laptop.

For a few days now, I have been having issues with my keyboard keys. Every time I press the Shift key, it seems to activate many other keys along with it. I am attaching a screenshot from the Laptop Keyboard Tester website to show all the keys the Shift key is activating. This is happening with both Shift keys.

I have already tried troubleshooting my keyboard, checked language settings and uninstalled the keyboard driver and restarted my laptop but none of these seem to work. Last month, I also did a reset, the kind which keeps personal files and reinstalls Windows, however the keyboard issues started long after the reset so I am not sure if that caused it or if resetting can help me. I saw someone mention on another website that maybe cleaning my keys may help, so I already cleaned them and I am sure nothing is stuck under that would cause these issues.


I would really appreciate some advice to fix this or if someone can tell me if I need to take it to the Dell store.

Unplug the keyboard from the computer, restart the computer once and then re-plug the keyboard to check if that helps.

You may also plug in this keyboard into another PC to check if the issue persists. You may plug in another keyboard in to this PC to check if that helps.

Also ensure to install any pending Windows updates on the PC and restart it to check if that helps.

You may also use the on-screen keyboard to check if the issue persists.

Follow these steps to launch the On-screen keyboard:
