Windows 10: Manually putting laptop to sleep and

Can someone please tell me what I did? I was fooling around, trying to have the laptop awake out of sleep and have the same landscape picture be there each time. I wasn't successful with that but also now, when I put the laptop to sleep from the Start button, it goes to sleep for about 10 seconds and wakes up again. Anyone have the fix for this so it doesn't wake up on its own?

Laptop restarts when I put it to 'sleep' mode

Hi All!

Just bought a brand new HP envy 15 (2020 edition). On the 2nd day it was updating windows and bios and then i noticed that my laptop restarts whenever i put it to sleep.

To be precise, this is what happens step by step:

1. I put the laptop to sleep

2. It goes to 'sleep'

3. 20 seconds in and it restarts or start from new.. all the apps that i left on when puting laptop to sleep are now gone..

Can anyone help?

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best 'free' program to put a laptop into hibernate or sleep mode?

 

Trouble Putting PC to Sleep

At issue is when I try to put the computer to sleep manually by selecting Start > Power > Sleep, the computer doesn't sleep for more than a second. As part of this process, I changed my power plan from "High Performance" (Put Computer to Sleep = Never) to Balanced (Put Computer to Sleep = 5 hours). When 5 hours was up, the computer did indeed go into Sleep mode automatically and successfully. Since then, when I manually try to put the computer into Sleep mode, it indeed stays asleep until roused. I then changed the Power Plan back to “High Performance” (Put Computer to Sleep = Never) and I can still put the computer into Sleep mode successfully.

It seems as if Windows forgot how to sleep when manually instructed, but re-gained the ability to do after it went into automatic sleep just once. Very odd.*Smile
