Get 2018-12 Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057) - Error 0x80070643

When attempting to install update. The Event viewer has

Product: Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057) -- Error 1920. Service 'Windows Remediation Service' (sedsvc) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

The program files\rempl folder does not contain sedsvc.exe and associated files. I have another win 10 computer that does contain sedsvc.exe.

The Update troubleshoot and repair tools did not help.

 

Can Windows Remediation System Service be scheduled?

The service is a background process that helps ensure the reliability of your computer. I recommend that you do not disable or alter it, as it cannot be scheduled to run.

However, in this case, because you stated that the service running is directly interfering with your ability to use your workstation please follow the steps below to disable the Windows Remediation Service. **Please keep in mind that if your user account on
your workstation is not already an "Administrator" you might not be able to complete this tutorial successfully.

1. Press "Windows Key + R" to open the "run" dialog box, type
services.msc and press enter on your keyboard.

2. Now scroll down and look for Windows Remediation Service (sedsvc) and Windows Update Medic Service (WaaSMedicSvc).

The "Windows Remediation Service" is set to Automatic and keeps running while "Windows Update Medic Service" is set to Manual and doesn't run unless triggered by another service or process.

3. Double-click on "Windows Remediation Service" and open its properties window.

4. Click on "Stop" button to immediately stop the service.

5. Now set "Startup type" to "Disabled" from the drop-down box and apply changes.

Now the Windows Remediation Service will be disabled until you manually enable it. On the next reboot, the service will not start since it is disabled. Please keep in mind that this might negatively affect the stability of your system.

Windows 10 Update Orchestrator Service

found similar error in the 'System' log, during the restart after installing the update, is this normal for windows 10? Does everyone faced such thing? The update seems to have settled, in the status I've see 'Success', there seem to be no other errors.
