Windows 10: lost internet ability after incorrect win10 install and can not reinstall windows

I attempted to install windows 10 when it should have been windows 11. attempted to reinstall win 11 but had lost my ability to use internet for support on this machine. I can only get to the 3rd scree " we will not connect to the internet" and crashes. locks down with the screen not clearing. without internet what am i able to do as far as reinstalling the windows 11 program?

Lost ability to access Win10 from WinXP machine

Hi, This is a lab I constructed since following this thread. Setup: Virtual Box Windows 10 fresh install, latest ISO fully patched. Windows XP Latest Version As patched as it need. Setup: Both Virtual machines virtual adapters Bridged to my Local Network Both NetBios forced Enabled Both in the same Workgroup Both firewalls located in Private network Enabled SMB1 on W10 Host Created user named "monkey" with the password "banana" on both machines Created a Share named !TEMP! on both machines, created a cookie File in each folder. Give full control access to everyone and "monkey" on both shares. From there I was unable to access the shared folder Without authentication period. Automatic authentication did not work and using "Everyone full access" did not change anything. I had to specifically log on the machine to gain any access. CMD output:



If you want, you can do a step by step troubleshooting of your problem. From the problematic machine. Try to view if your Machine appears on the Network List: Code:

The available shares will be listed there. If it does not work you can use: Code:

To verify if authentication is working properly, if it succeed, you can carry on... But nothing will be permanently saved. Then Try to List the content of one of the directories: Code:

This should list the content of the directory, If all this works Try to map a drive on the share: Code:

In my setup both windows are at the default initial configuration, no tweaks, and wont accept any of these commands without prior authentication.

 

Lost ability to access Win10 from WinXP machine

I just started having the same problem that I had 8/24/18. When I’m on my Win10 machine, I can copy files between them (both ways) & access my WinXP machine’s documents & desktop. However, I can no longer access Win10 files & desktop from my WinXP machine. I have 2 computers, Win10 Pro (Version 21H1, Build 19043) & WinXP Pro (SP3), that are connected through a router by an ethernet cable. Both computers are also connected to a home network by Wi-Fi. When I click on a shortcut on my XP machine (that used to work), I now get this error message:

1. I’ve gone through all the steps I can think of. I recently (5 days ago), turned on Controlled Access Folders, but I turned that off, rebooted Win10, & there was no change. 2. I have the SMB 1.0/CIFS Server enabled in Windows Features. 3. I have Function Discovery Provider Host running in Windows 10 & set to Automatic. I also have Function Discovery Resource Publication running & set to Automatic (trigger start). There is no such service in WinXP, but I have DNS Client started in XP & Win10. 4. I have both Network discovery & File & printer sharing turned on as described at Turn On or Off Password Protected Sharing in Windows 10. 5. I have advanced sharing settings as follows:

6. On XP, I have the correct computer name & workgroup name is MSHOME. I notice that under System Properties in Win10, it’s called WORKGROUP. I’m not sure this is a problem because I haven’t changed anything & it’s been working for a long time. If I click Network ID…, I see this:

Lost ability to access Win10 from WinXP machine

I have 2 separate machines, but I wasn't using Hyper V. My settings are:

I have the same setup & it used to work. Except the folders that I shared were my Profile (Phil) & Documents folder. Then I was able to see my Win10 folders from XP, & created shortcuts on XP to certain folders on Win10 (none of which work now). I cannot see my Win10 machine at all from XP. My permissions are:

I have password protected sharing turned off on both machines (actually, I don't know where it is on XP anymore). However, I don't know how to set ntfs permissions. I can't find that anywhere. When I go on my XP machine & try to map network drive, it doesn't see Win10 at all (I used to have it assigned to the letter V. - - - Updated - - -
