Windows 10: Locked out of laptop, can't remember pin

When I click for other options and try to sign in using my account password it wants to send me a code through an email I haven't used in years. I am trying to change the backup email to another but it said I have to wait till January the 23rd and I would like to get into my laptop ASAP.

Cannot remember password and PIN to login

Hi,

As per the query, I would like to inform that you require to create a password prior to the creation of the PIN. If you remember the password, click on the sign-in options under the password box in the login screen.

If you forgot your Microsoft account password,
follow these steps.

If you don’t have a Microsoft account and forgot your local account password,
you can’t recover it. Instead, you’ll need to reset your PC.

Warning: Following these steps will remove all of your data, programs, and settings.

• Start your PC and select the Power icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the lock screen.
• While holding down the Shift key, select Restart.
• On the Boot options menu, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.
• Your PC will restart and will reset itself.

Unable to go into safe mode to change pin

In order to get clarity on this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

1. What is the error that you are getting after entering the PIN?
2. Is there any other administrator user account on the laptop?
3. Are you entering the correct PIN?

If you have signed in with your Microsoft Account, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in
How to recover your PIN and password from the lock screen and check if this helps.

If you are not able to recover your PIN or password, then the only way to login to your laptop is to do a
Custom Installation of Windows, in which you will lose all your applications; however, your user data like pictures, videos, documents, etc., will be saved in Windows.old
folder.

Remember pin but forgot password

i have a follow up question if thats alright !



so my laptop died one day and when i tried to use it next it had hard reset and ended at the title page to sign into the overall computer account with the pasword instead of the pin i had set up after. so is there a way to get back in if im all the way locked
out and dont remember the password ?
