Windows 10: Location Serivices keeps appearing in taskbar disrupting icons and causing disturbance

The location services arrow shows up briefly in the system icons area constantly at least once every 5 seconds when an app is using location services. This causes all application icons in the taskbar shift to the left which is incredibly disruptive on a work laptop - especially when using apps such as google earth on a daily basis. The issue does not occur on my older Windows 11 formerly windows 10 device but has been a nonstop problem on my new laptop. Is there a way to stop this arrow from appearing apart from turning off all location services?

System Icons on taskbar

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

Wifi icon not appearing in taskbar

If ending the task in Windows Explorer did not resolve your concern, we recommend restarting the Windows Explorer. Follow the steps below:

• Right-click the taskbar to open the Task Manager.
• Locate Windows Explorer under Processes tab.
• Right-click Windows Explorer, then click Restart.

The wireless icon should be visible now on your taskbar.

Location System Icon


halasz - your first suggestion - settings > system > notifications and actions > Select which icons appear on the taskbar - location was off, Ive now turned it on.
Your second suggestion settings > privacy > location - location was on and ive left it on.

But still - settings > system > notifications and actions > turn system icons on or off ---- the location "switch" is off and it is greyed out.
