Windows 10: Lexmark S305 printer driver - unable to connect in Windows 10 v 1803

I inherited a Lexmark S305 printer recently. I downloaded and installed the printer driver and connected the printer via USB but when I get to the following screen, I am unable to press the "Continue" button no matter how long I wait as in over the weekend.



The USB port is in working order and I have restarted everything. The Lexmark printer driver webpage says that Windows 10 supports only limited functions for the S305 and that Microsoft may pull all support in the future. Has that future arrived? Does Windows 10 still support the S305?

The question is: is there a windows 10 driver for the Lexmark s305 printer.

We don't see one on the Lexmark site.

The windows 10 pgm on my PC says its compatible but I don't see a w10 driver for this printer.

 

How to get Windows 10 to find & retain a Lexmark CS310 printer?


Hello.

Windows 10 will not find my Lexmark CS310 printer that I want to use as the default printer.

After first installing Win 10, It found the printer and let me set it as the default. The printer was repeated in the list of printers in this way:
Lexmark CS310
Lexmark CS310 (Copy 1)

When I deleted the "Copy 1" listing, Win 10 removed *both* listings for the printer and now cannot find it. I have searched in various ways including the one about my printer is old, but all to no avail.

I can still print using that printer, but it will not retain it as the default (so I have to manually select it each time) and will not add it to the list of printers.

I read the thread "Turn On or Off Let Windows 10 Manage Default Printer in Settings" then checked my settings and saw that "Let Windows manage my default printer" is selected, but the computer does not retain the Lexmark CS310 printer after printing with that printer and cannot find it when I search for the printer.

By default, Windows contains generic drivers for many different types of hardware connected to your computer. And as far as legacy driver support is concerned, Windows releases drivers based on manufacturer's release addressing Windows 10 compatible device
drivers.

The drivers Microsoft provides are stripped down and a bit older, but they’re written by your device manufacturer and not Microsoft themselves.

At this point, you need to refer to Lexmark support for further assistance on this. But, since you have already tried, let me give you a few more recommendations.

Now, I went through the manufacturer website support links for available drivers downloads. This is what I found, which might help you as well.

Now, in case you have already done the above, I suspect that the driver installer you are using might be corrupt. So, consider downloading it again. And, if the driver is for Windows 7 or 8.1, try to install it in compatibility mode using the steps as suggested
by
AntonyJose.
