    Latest update broke Windows Ink

I used to use Windows Ink + a Wacom tablet daily (on a 3rd monitor) when working on my 3D design - mainly for working out math, trig etc. I also used it to explain stuff when making Camtasia tutorials.

After the latest update, apparently I have to sign in to work on my equations. Ink is now called Whiteboard, and doesn't work unless you are logged in. Big brother Microsoft wants to spy on what I'm doing - for reasons only they know.

Wacom's Bamboo Paper it is from now on, although since it's distributed via the store, MS will probably break that.

What on earth does Microsoft do with the Exabytes of data they have on us?

    :)

Windows Ink Workspace - Reset/Clearing Contents Programmatically

    Hi Robert,

Windows Ink Workspace is part of the system icons. Just like the Start button, the process of Windows Ink Workspace is not going to present in Task Manager. If do not want your users to use the Windows Ink Workspace, we recommend that you disable it. You
can disable Windows Ink Workspace by following these steps:

    • Click the Windows logo (Start button).
    • Click the gear icon (Settings).
    • Select Personalization.
    • On the left pane, choose Taskbar.
    • Under Notification area, click Turn system icons on or off.
    • Locate Windows Ink Workspace, and then click the slider to turn it off.
    • You will now notice that the Windows Ink Workspace is gone from the Taskbar.

If you still want to have a function that will allow you to automatically reset or clear the contents of Windows Ink Workspace, we recommend that you post your suggested function using the Feedback Hub like what was mentioned by
Erika Aro so that our Engineers can look into it and release your suggested feature on the next update of Windows 10.

    Regards.

    Unable to use Windows Ink

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    1. Are you using Windows ink for the first time?
    2. What is the make and model of the pen?

For more information you can refer the article
HP PCs - Touchscreen Compatibility with Pen and Stylus
    by HP.

Also, I suggest you to try the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Method 1:

Enable Windows Ink Workspace to use the pen. To enable Windows Ink Workspace right click on the
taskbar and select show Windows Ink Workspace button. Also, you can refer the article on

    Use Windows Ink
    .

    Method 2:

Enable the Windows Ink Workspace from registry.

    Note:
Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

    Refer the article on
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
    .

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
    2. In Run dialog box, type
      regedit
      and hit enter.
    3. In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsInkWorkspace
    4. In the right pane, look for
      AllowWindowsInkWorkspace
      .
    5. Right click on the registry key and click on
      delete.
    6. Close the registry editor.
    7. Restart the PC.

    Hope it helps.
