Windows 10: Lagging on my external monitor when gaming.

So recently I bought a new monitor, the ASUS Predator XB273 and since I don't have a PC yet, I connected my laptop, Asus Vivobook E406 and ever since I played a game with it, my FPS dropped down to 20, but when I disconnected the HDMI from my laptop I ran the game again and the FPS was doing way better. A friend told me to change the refresh rates so I did, my laptop's refresh rate is 60hz so I changed my monitors refresh rate to 60hz, still did not improve, then I turned on overdrive from my monitors buttons on the side andddd it did not improve. Please help I just want to run the game like

If it's an online game, the lag issue may have been caused by your Internet connection. It can also occur due to the game server issue. We'll need to gather a bit more information to better identify what's causing this. Kindly answer the following:

• Have you made any changes prior to this issue?
• What card game are you having issues with?
• Is the issue the same with other games?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far to resolve the issue?

Windows apps troubleshooter. The apps troubleshooter can help resolve issues with games and applications downloaded from Windows Store.

External monitor blanking often

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• What is the make and model of your computer and external monitor?
• Have you installed all pending Windows and driver updates?
• Do you get any error message?

I suggest you to install all pending Windows updates in your PC and also update Display drivers. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: I would suggest you to check and install any latest Windows Updates available.

• Go to Start and then Settings.
• Click on Update and Recovery.
• Check for updates under
  Windows Updates.
• Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

• What browser are you using when you experience a lag?
• Does the lag occur in a particular game?

In the meantime, we suggest you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. Here are the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• On the left pane, click on View All.
• Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.
