Windows 10: Kimax u35W setup, can't access due to blank password

I tred a KIMAX U35W wireless NAS but was not able to connect to it's setup page because ir ships with a blank password.Windows 11 does not allow a blank password. I edited the policy for blank password to disable but it still won't allow meto just hit enter when the password comes up.. I see others here talk about their settings on the Kimax.. How do you connect to it??Thanks,Gary

Can't network map KIMAX NAS drive

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me... I don't know too much about drive networking or this area in general.

I was given a KIMAX BS-U35WF drive and I'm trying to network it. So far I've been able to log into the web interface (192.168.169.1) and set up a wireless relay to allow it to connect to my router so that when I connect to the KIMAX drive I have an internet
connection. In Explorer, I can see the KIMAX drive listed in Network locations, and it has the icon of a media device.

When I go to Network in the left pane and allow file/folder discovery on the network, it also appears as a computer (empty when I click into it) and also as a media device. When I double click on that a webpage appears reading: uShare UPnP A/V Media Server
Information Page, and I have the option to 'add a new share' - so I typed in 'Media' and pressed 'Share!' When I navigate back to This PC and click on the media device, the folder has appeared but it doesn't have the green networked/shared tube icon thing.
It just looks like a regular folder and I can't copy into it or anything.

I checked on another computer on the same network and the media device also appears with the folder, but again can't interact with it. When I type \\KIMAX into the address bar, an empty folder appears. I've tried to click 'Map network device' and clicked
Browse, where KIMAX appears in the list, however, clicking on it doesn't do anything (no subfolders appear) so I'm not able to do anything there.

I've tried disabling the firewall and anti-virus firewall to no avail. When I plug the drive in by USB and check in Disk Management I can see the 2TB drive appear as a healthy GPT Protective Partition.

Is there anything I can do to be able to network and access this drive and move files onto it? Thanks in advance.

 

Long boot time and passwords missing

The only reason I mention the account is that a Windows update recently was causing people to be signed into a temporary account, your password manager may be installed for all users but the list of passwords would be user specific, therefore the blank password list suggests a different account. *Smile

To which "this" are you referring?
- If you are following the tutorial Bree suggested in the very first reply to your question then what you need to do at each step is explained in detail. So which step are you at?
- If you are following a different procedure then state what it is and which step you are at. If, for example, you are trying to manually enable the Built-In Admin as suggested in post #11 then that account has no password.
