Windows 10: Keyboard: some Shift- combinations do not work from time to time

When using SHIFT to type !, @, #, $, or they sometimes do not work. A while later, they may work for a short time. Sometimes the problem does not show up for days. Steps taken so far:The device manager shows no issues. Test programs found nothing or suggest it may be a hardware error. When using on-screen keyboards, there is no issue. The keyboard drivers have been de-installed and automatically re-installedThe latest drivers are installedHave removed and re-selected the language keyboards Thanks for any help!Eugen

Shift+4 key combination not working

• Do the other combination with shift key are working?
• Did you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

I suggest you to update your keyboard drivers and check if it helps.

Method 1: Update keyboard drivers.

• Press Windows key + X key and click on
  Device manager.
• Click on Keyboards.
• Right-click on the Keyboards and click on
  Update driver software.

Shift keys are not working most of the times

Hi,

I have a very strange problem with the shift keys. When i turn on my notebook, 95 out of 100 times both of the shift keys are not working. This is terribly annoying and delay much of my work. I have tried to solve this issue and have spent 10s of hours on
this. Below i write some of the things that i remember

• I have updated the windows (Windows 10 Pro) to the latest version.
• I have updated all drivers in my notebook (Asus k55vd, 8gb Ram)
• I have done system restore (many times)
  
• I have checked the sticky key issue. All the options there are unchecked. I have confirmed this 100 times.
• I have confirmed that both input and display languages are the same (US English)
• I have requested keyboard driver update (many times). Windows says that it is the best available driver.
• I have uninstalled the keyboard driver, and then restarted to see if it will be fixed (many times). Did not help.
• I have tried to troubleshot the keyboard. Did not help.
• I have checked for viruses with Defender, Malwarebytes and CCleaner. Nothing found.

As a final solution, i reset the notebook. This did not work either. After that did clean install (two times). This also did not work.

Sometimes, somehow they start functioning normally after working on notebook for 1-2 hours. There is no standard way for knowing this. But again most of the times they are not functioning no matter what i do. If not functioning, then i use on-screen keyboard

I used my friends external keyboard, with that, shifts function normally as well. I do not think that hardware (keyboard) is the problem as when it functions, it function flawlessly (no hard pushing or so).

Please, please, please. What else can i do to solve this problem?

 

Shift+4 key combination not working

The shift key works fine and so does the 4 key however when I try to use the Shift+4 key combination nothing happens. I have tested multiple keyboards and even the On-Screen keyboard and have had no success in getting the key combination to work.

the key combination stooped working a couple days before the official release of windows 10 whilst I was still on the technical preview. I had expected it to be fixed when the update came for the official version of windows 10 however it is still broken.

any help would be greatly appreciated
