    CPU overload

    Dear KanekiMentorTop,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community for assistance with your CPU overload issue. I understand how frustrating it can be when your CPU reaches 100% utilization even with minimal workload. Let's go through some steps to diagnose and resolve this issue.

Based on the screenshot you provided from Task Manager, it is evident that your CPU usage is significantly high, though it appears to be within an understandable range under certain circumstances.

Your Task Manager indicates that the processes consuming the most CPU resources are Elden Ring, Medal, Desktop Windows Manager, and Wallpaper64.exe. Collectively, these processes account for nearly 74% of your CPU usage, with the exception of Desktop Windows Manager, which is an integral part of the Windows operating system, all of these are third-party applications.

While I appreciate that you may wish to use programs like Elden Ring, Medal, and Discord simultaneously, it is crucial to monitor and manage other background processes while engaging in high-demand activities such as gaming.

Here are some recommendations to help reduce CPU usage:

    1. Disable Non-Essential Applications: Consider turning off the game recording tool, Medal, and the wallpaper customization software, Wallpaper Engine, while running the game. This can significantly free up CPU resources.
    2. Optimize In-Game Settings: Given that Elden Ring is a resource-intensive game, adjusting the in-game settings can help lower CPU usage. Reducing parameters such as resolution, frame rate, and graphics quality can make a notable difference. Additionally, running the game in full-screen mode might alleviate some of the load on Desktop Windows Manager, although it is not the primary source of high CPU usage.
    3. Update Drivers: Outdated drivers can sometimes impact performance. Ensure that both your chipset and graphics card drivers are up to date. If your graphics driver is current but you still experience high CPU usage, you might want to try installing an older version of the driver. For updates, it is advisable to visit your computer hardware manufacturer's official website rather than relying solely on Device Manager.
    4. Disable Startup Programs: Open Task Manager and navigate to the Startup tab to disable any non-essential programs that launch at startup. This can help reduce background CPU usage.
Should the issue persist despite these steps, consulting with a professional technician for a more thorough diagnosis may be beneficial.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. I hope these suggestions assist you in identifying and resolving the high CPU usage issue.

    Best Regards,
