KB5050081 Preview Update causes odd things 0x800f0835 error, no new outlook, search bar...

I made a couple posts about this before but thought to make a single post so it won't come off as spammyKB5050081, which was released a couple days ago gave me multiple issues when trying to install it, the .NET framework update installed fine, however KB5050081 got stuck on a snag and kept getting caught at 74%, I decided to restart all windows update processes such as windows modules installer, windows modules installer worker and mouso core worker processafter doing this, I retried updating and eventually I got slapped with a 0x800f0835 error, said error has rarely any mention online beside

    :)

  2. Disable new search bar in Outlook 365

OK. There is a way to disable this new search box in Microsoft Office 365. For Outlook:

    1. Open Outlook 365.
    2. On the lower left-hand corner click options.
    3. In the User Interface options under the General Tab, click the checkbox Collapse the Microsoft Search box by default.
    4. Click OK.

The search box will now disappear. However, disabling this option would only work on that application. If you open Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, you will need to do these same steps to disable the search box (if present) as well. Let me know if this works for you.

  3. Disable new search bar in Outlook 365

Wow, I don't know why that option is not available in Outlook 365. The choice is there for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. No worries though, after a little bit of research and testing, I found out how to make the search bar relocate back to its old self. The registry file will delete two keys that are responsible for the new search box, relocating it below the ribbon.

    1. Close any windows running Outlook 365.
    2. Download and save the registry file to your desktop.
    3. Double-click on the file and click yes, then OK.

Now, open up Outlook 365, and the search box should be back to its old location. Please let me know if this works.

EDIT: Registry file no longer works, please read my post here Disable new search bar in Office 365
