KB4559309 is an update released late June 2020. There is no choice but to accept this discombobulated update. Firstly, you cannot uninstall this update. KB4559309 is an update for a browser, called Edge, that as a Surface user you pretty much have to use against many users wishes. Google Chrome mortifies battery time, reducing battery to one hour from an average of 4 hours. So whats wrong with Edge. Firstly, many features are not ready, making this update beta, in other words, unfinished. Unfortunately, MS have a terrible habit of producing faulty updates.

Primarily, many users wish to pin apps and websites as tiles to Start. Previously, when MS remembered, it was on the drop down menu headed with three dots. Subsequently, it was moved to a sub menu 'more tools'. Now it has disappeared altogether. Users can no longer create tiles for their favourite sites/apps. This is a serious flaw, and wrecks the purpose of having tiles, and being able to use a Surface as a touch tablet. This in turn wrecks the start/desktop, as it has now been rendered redundant. In turn, that means you will have to find sites apps manually. Absolutely appalling! So what does one do? If you have this issue, I would request a refund from MS for your Surface device, on the grounds it no longer functions as it designed to do, and is not fit for purpose at least as a touch tablet.

Your Surface touch tablet may also experience having to double tap tiles, text etc since this update.

    :)

  2. The dialer in lumia 800 is missing key critical features!

I'm not worried about hacking.I'm irritated by yet another example of the inflexibility of this system, yet another thing to add to the list of things this phone can't do.

As for research, where exactly other than user experience am I going to find this out? I was an early buyer of this phone ,I was expecting it to do things differently not that many basic ,standard phone features would be missing.

    Critical Structure Corruption Windows 10

I keep getting this error "Critical Structure Corruption" and can't seem to fix it.

It happens while I am busy on my laptop. Here are some of the steps I have tried so far to resolve this with no success.

    1. Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic = no problems so RAM looks good.
    2. Check The CPU with Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool = PASS all
    3. Drivers update, I used driver booster and did need to update 18 drivers but was able to update with no issues.
    4. Update software and drivers, well it was suggested that I update BlueStacks but the update failed, bluestacks mentioned that it might be an issue so as I do not use the tool I uninstalled the software altogether.
    5. Updated Windows, this I do regularly and automatically so no big updates were missed.
    6. Defragged the machine - system is optimized
    7. Ran anti-virus check and all's good
    8. Ran CCleaner

Now I might mention I'm not a super user, but I'm able to follow suggestions quite well.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Microsoft Family Critical Flaw

I just spent the day playing with Microsoft Family.

It has a critical flaw which will impact adoption.

Sadly the flaw is an easy fix, in fact, Microsoft has had the solution in production in the past but for whatever reason has pulled it.

    What is the critical flaw?

The critical flaw is that Microsoft Family now requires children to have an e-mail address and Microsoft doesn't provide any parental controls for children's email.

    What is the simple fix?

    Bring back Contact Management.

As a parent, there is no way I would ever give my children access to an unfiltered e-mail account.

And I don't mean SPAM filters.

I mean whitelists for sending and receiving mail.

Without this level of filtering, children can sign-up for any e-mail confirmation based service (which is most of them).

My current solution is a local account and 3rd party parental control software.

As far as I'm concerned, Microsoft Family is a complete waste of time for both parents and Microsoft.

If Microsoft doesn't want to reimplement Contact Management for Windows Family, then they should just remove Windows Family all together an give up on parental control. No parent with a clue is going to ever use it as is.
