  3. KB4058043 Store reliability improvements for Windows 10 v1709 resets entire desktop and makes other wholesale changes

What is the complete build#. >> Is it 16299.192.

    Is this a 32bit OS

This KB4058043 is not on my 64bit system nor windows update has downloaded to install after just checking.

    This was a December 15, 2017 update

What do you mean it changes your desktop and other settings, be more specific.

A change to your network or corruption to it can make all your desktop icons reset to default. In other words, if you have set the icons in a specific order on desktop, then they will all be reset to left side top to bottom in a selected order by windows.

    What settings are changing?

Thanks @f14tomcat, well spotted. Just checked for updates and got it too. This appears to be another type of update to add to the list of those that are '...,required to keep Windows running smoothly...' and will be downloaded over a metered connection - note that it says 'awaiting install', not 'awaiting download' as the defender definitions says.

  9. I just got it (KB4058043) this morning and installed very quickly on both machines. No restart was required as @Bree mentioned in his post above. Just another out of band update from MS.

...and it doesn't change the os build number either.

  11. Installed on mine. Nice and quick. Anything that makes the store and/or those native apps more reliable is a welcome update. In my experience the store and those apps far and away the most unreliable/unpredictable part of windows 10.

After this update, updating store apps failed. Then I had to search and used advice in Microsoft site to make it ok.
