Windows 10: KB4052623 installation fails with code 0x80070643

Discus and support KB4052623 installation fails with code 0x80070643 in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I can't install "Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus antimalware platform - KB4052623 Version 4.18.23050.9", as it gives the error code 0x80070643...     KB4052623 installation fails with code 0x80070643


    I can't install "Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus antimalware platform - KB4052623 Version 4.18.23050.9", as it gives the error code 0x80070643 every time. sfc /scannow didn't work it says nothing is wrong, DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth says "The cleanup-image option is unknown".

    Win Defender KB4052623 (v4.18.1905.4) repeated install fail 0x80070643

    Can someone please tell me more about this situation? This Windows Defender update is repeatedly failing to install: KB4052623 (Version 4.18.1905.4) installation fail with Error 0x80070643. I have searched various forums for a solution, but have found none so far that pertains to this specific version.

    Also, when I try to manually update Windows Defender from within Windows Defender, I get another error message saying: error code -2147023293 protection definition update failed.

    Thanks in advance for any help provided. I should add that I have no 3rd party AV installed.

    Hi all

    I've seen a number of threads online about "Update for Windows Defender antimalware platform - KB4052623 (Version 4.16.17656.18052)" failing to install (Error 0x80070643).

    About a week after the 2018-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4100403), I noted the above message in my own update history.

    I got some ideas online I turned into a workaround that worked for my circumstances.

    In the hope it may work for others, I've posted it on Microsoft Community at KB4052623 - Microsoft Community.

    If posting a link to another forum rather than putting the workaround here is acceptable, I'd be really grateful as - being image-intensive - it was a bit long to set up.
