Windows 10: It’s (Past) Time to Close That Yahoo Account

Well, Yahoo is an e-mail provider, and Outlook is an e-mail client. Apples and oranges. I too have a Yahoo account, and use Outlook to download and archive these e-mails locally.

 

Not apples and oranges at all; I believe what Ghost82 meant about migrating from Yahoo to Outlook is migrating from yahoo.com email to outlook.com email.

Worth to remember that Outlook is not just a name of a desktop mail client (or rather a PIM, personal information manager). It is also the name of Microsoft's free email service.

Eeeeeeeexactly. I have my *******@outlook.es mail account, so I'm migrating any related service and contacts from my ****@yahoo.es to my ****@outlook.es. I was not talking about the mail client.

Specially since Yahoo itself sent an e-mail telling about what happened. That feels totally not secure.

 

Very interesting. I did not even know accounts had been hacked more than once...
I for one had never really been a Yahoo fan but very interesting, since it seems that it is still going strong. I would have thought that Yahoo would have put some good protection for their users. *sarc

Very annoying for those who have thousands of contacts needing to send notifications for a change of email address...

 

I've had a Yahoo email account only for slush requirements. Just glad Brink had that link, I don't think I could of ever found the termination page.

 

Sky e-mail providers being Yahoo....Have not been scammed up to now, so continuing to use same...as well as other e-mail suppliers.
Solution as in using any online service.....change passwords.

 

I can't say this emphatically enough, get away & stay away from Yahoo.
It is worth any amount of time to inform any and all People and firms that you are switching to another account(yes I know it will take a lot of time, but the security is worth it).

These are not the first two times that Yahoo accounts have been stolen or cracked.

There sites are pretty to the eye, but also very prone to being hijacked, specially because they trust there Ads partners.

I had a general Yahoo account many years ago, but never an email account. I wouldn't have any idea how to access it now even if it's still open since my login wasn't an email address. Nothing other than my name that was current when I set that account up still is, so I'm thinking I don't have anything to worry about.

Welcome to the real world...you above post is only the tip of the iceberg....and in my opinion a scare story compared to what real hackers are after.....Allow me to name just a few that have lost billions.....These are where the rich pickings are....not by phishing a link to an unwary individual in an e-mail.

Yeah, as long as I'm just cleaning up anything related to my old Yahoo account, I just changed password and stuff. The thing is that, from Yahoo's website, I can't se any e-mail I received before december 6th. I'll try to contact them to ask what the hell is going on.

We can terminate our own accounts, but there is nothing we can do about moving the Yahoo-based discussion groups. We can stop using them, but we can't move them to something else (like Google, I guess) unless we are the administrators.

 

If my garbage time yahoo email account was accessed then my (long dead) dog, who 'resided' in Belgium when the account was created, is in trouble!
